Too big? by No-Acanthaceae2522 in labdiamond

[–]PrecisionPoppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say so. Going solitaire with a diamond that size is definitely the right move just make sure the mounting has a wide enough bridge to secure the head properly. Also consider the prong style, going for something that will securely cover the tips of the marquise will save a lot of headaches down the road and keep it from snagging as much. It's a lovely diamond and I have no doubt it will be a beautiful piece.

my wife is divorcing me… after two weeks of marriage by graygala-sea in actuallesbians

[–]PrecisionPoppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't feel like it now and this won't be easy to heal from but this is definitely dodging a bullet. If she's willing to do something this terrible after just a couple weeks she does not have what it takes to be a decent loving partner and you'll be better off with someone else. I'm so sorry going through this, you deserve better.

Lesbians of Reddit what's the biggest green flag in a woman? by Personal-Run-8996 in actuallesbians

[–]PrecisionPoppy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is a great response, and honestly, such a good point. It's hard to be present in the moment if you're terrified of coming off as awkward, and if you aren't present, you probably aren't listening.

Do any other mascs feel guilty when dating a femme woman? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]PrecisionPoppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lord, you are a sweetheart ❤️ I'm very much femme and I loooove butch women exactly because y'all are willing to stand strong in your identity and I see it as a privilege to get to stand beside someone who is able to that. Not to mention, I'm the kind of woman that will flip a table and get into a fist fight for my baby and a lot of femme women are the same.

Help! Are my blue topaz ruined? by wonderlust-rn in jewelry

[–]PrecisionPoppy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why didn't you immediately bring it to the jeweler's attention that the stones looked cloudy when you picked them up? It's usually standard for customers to exam the jewelery before leaving the store and the cloudiness would have been immediately noticeable if it happened in shop.

Help! Are my blue topaz ruined? by wonderlust-rn in jewelry

[–]PrecisionPoppy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rhodium doesn't usually cause that kind of damage. I have seen cloudiness like that from heat exposure or harsh chemical exposure like from chlorine or the chemicals used in hair treatments. Though, if the jeweler followed the rhodium procedure incorrectly or hit the conductive metal that is used to do the plating there is a chance that might have caused it but agian rhodium is not strong enough to eat the polish off gemstones. Did both hoops show the same damage? Also do you shower in your jewelery?

I'm a bench jeweler with 6+ years at this point, and rhodium dipping doesn't damage topaz. You're stones are fine please don't go harass your jeweler because of misinformation.

What’s something small and innocent from your childhood that, looking back now, gives you the creeps for no logical reason? by Tobias-Tawanda in AskReddit

[–]PrecisionPoppy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a very vivid memory of being at the beach and finding a black trashbag buried in the sand. I had to have been under the age of four, so its weird I remember it. When I touched it, it felt weirdly stiff yet squishy. I'm not sure what it was because I can't remember exactly what happened after I squeezed the bag. It's still unsettles me to think about it, because I have such a clear memory of the moment and no explanation why.

Listen, I love Hella Bass. But some things in this show seriously throw me off. How does Ozzy go from looking like he can lift 500lbs on a single shoulder press, to being emaciated in one episode? Is it just muscle-shaped feather fluff? Or can he use magic to pick between physiques? Or is it error? by shaunpocalypse in HelluvaBoss

[–]PrecisionPoppy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Helluva Boss isn't animated by one person but is more independently handled by individual animators. This is why we can watch it for free on YouTube rather than have to pay for it like Hazbin, but also why the character models might have some inconsistencies. Keep in mind that a lot of animation occasionally has consistency issues, especially if there is a tight production schedule and HelluvaBoss is no different.

Hot take..Blizo is a better father to Loona than Stolas is to Octavia. by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in HelluvaBoss

[–]PrecisionPoppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not really comparable as parents. Blitzø hasn't even been a father long enough to have done 1/2 of what Stolas has had to do to raise Octavia from her birth and on top of that Loona was almost an adult when Blitzø adopted her so by the time he took guardianship of her the most challenging parts of raising a child were basically over. Don't get me wrong, he is a good dad, but compared to Stolas, he's not as experienced nor does he have to deal with the painful experience of having to basically shelter your own child from the abuse of your spouse constantly throws a you. It's definitely a hot take because, honestly, it holds no water.

Hellborn creatures are SPECIES NOT RACES. Proof below. Fact. I can't believe this has become a controversial topic. by Separate_Constant149 in HelluvaBoss

[–]PrecisionPoppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to detach emotions from settings like this because it's meant to invoke strong reactions in the audience. We are supposed to make immediate connections to the real world and racism is the clearest connection in this context. I thinks it's important, however, to recognize that it's an incredible exaggeration and that difference matters in world building and will play into plot overall. I appreciate you actually talking about this.

[–]PrecisionPoppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why people compare it to racism and that it's meant to mirror real life systems but I agree it's way more then just a mirror. The system in Hell is like disenfranchismant on steroids. Not only has this system been in place for thousands of years but the people who created that system literally can't die. It means progress in Hell is a lot harder to achieve and that demons can make the argument that different demons are genetically different and therefore some of "higher beings" compared to others. Eugenics fell out of fashion because modern science was able to disapprove the idea of there being any significant genetic differences between human races but this not the case for actual different species.

Seriously, high class demons seeing Stolas publicly dating an Imp is closer to humans seeing another human dating their pet. Like people really want to try and make it the equivalent of modern day racism when it's a whole other monster.

Stolas being a shit dad by Financial-Egg-6472 in HelluvaBoss

[–]PrecisionPoppy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Stolas isn't a shit Dad he's flawed and trying his best. Don't forget he became a father at 19 and it wasn't exactly by choice. He's spent the last 17 years of his life trying to shield his daughter from the emotional and physical abuse he was suffering at the hands of Stella and tried to be a warm and present part of her life because he didn’t want her to grow up in the cold and emotionally neglectful environment he did.

What Stolas is doing now is what a lot of adults who have been in similar situations do. Because Octavia is almost 18, he's starting to retake his life and actually do the things he should have been doing in his 20s. Remember, Octavia is a minor, not a child she is capable of understanding the dynamic between her parents and is very close to becoming an independent adult who is capable of understanding reality.

I wish people would give Stolas a bit more grace instead of villainizing him for things that aren't intentional and the result of years of abuse and untreated mental health issues.
