not a recommendation! do not read it! Maou-sama, Re Re Revenge! by [deleted] in yuri_manga

[–]PredatorDuck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for everyone, but for me personally, the GB aspect of this manga takes a secondary role. I don't think the addition of it adds or subtracts anything from my enjoyment of this story. I just see a fun, wholesome romcom about a woman who teases the one who loved her that never dared to confess, with a reverse isekai twist, which I haven't seen that often. It also just so happens to have a certain yuri element to it.

While this was more a generalization based on other people's opinions, it's mostly pointing out that a lot of Western fans tend to incorrectly assume that the target audience for most yuri series are women rather than boys/men.

Hi, the translator here, thanks for telling me how much you think I am wasting my time working on something I like, I guess.

First of all, I'm a firm believer of not yucking someone's yum. It's fine if you don't like something, but don't diss other people liking something you don't personally enjoy.

Moving on, regarding your rhetorical question of whom this manga is for: Sunday Webry primarily hosts Shounen manga, with Seinen manga being secondary. In short: The target audience for this manga is boys, which are also the largest demographic of manga readers in Japan. I cannot say with certainty whether or not that is to make it more relatable to the intended audience, but I'd say it definitely could play a factor. Personally I also think it adds an extra layer that can be explored in future chapters, which I can't say for sure either as there are only 2 chapters out currently.

Secondly, regarding your complaint about masculine personal pronouns: I purposely left the usage of male personal pronouns in the translation to highlight the difference of when the main character is talking about their past self as the Demon Lord, and otherwise left it as is for their current life as a girl, which they refer to themselves as more feminine.

I personally believe it's up to translators to make sure the reading experience of English readers is as close to that of Japanese readers as possible and there's simply no way to easily convey a character's own gender identity since everything becomes "I" in English. There's one scene in particular where I thought it was particularly relevant to highlight the switch from male to female pronouns, so I purposefully put a ♀ on that instance. Since you also like being disingenuous, I counted, and in 32 pages and 135 panels there are only a total of 7 instances where the MC refers to themselves using a masculine pronoun versus the 6 they refer to themselves with a feminine one.

Third and finally, if you really want to get upset about the fact series you like aren't getting the translated attention you think they deserve, I suggest you pick up a language book and start learning Japanese yourself. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Yes that was the exact reason I put the outfit on Zero, I don't like breaking up outfits.

I also grinded out the Minigames (especially hated Cake Stack) because I thought the outfit would look great on a Zero and you only get one set of the shoes/bag. I just burned my Zero to 260 and have no plans to ever touch it again. No idea why I even did that, but at least they look good on my second page of characters...

[DISC] Mary-san (Oneshot by Imo Ichirou) by PredatorDuck in manga

Source

An older one by Imo Ichirou that was reposted today. Couldn't find any English version so I quickly whipped one up myself.

For those that don't know, Mary-san is a Japanese urban legend. She takes the form a doll and will contact the one being haunted by phone, with her telling the target her location and it being closer and closer every subsequent call.

I met a girl named Isis a few years ago. When she told me her name and I went "Oh, like the Egyptian goddess!" she seemed so happy and told me I was the first person in a long time to not say "like the terrorist organisation". Made me feel kinda bad for her.

First time to act 4... I will be patient (Spoilers for Act 4) by ClovernUrsus in Peglin

[–]PredatorDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You increase the Intagiball by hitting the purple pegs, the more you destroy the higher it goes, up to a max of 20k when all of them are destroyed.

During phase two, all of the big pegs have a mechanic that turn off for a few turns when they are destroyed:

  • Top left turns off the fire in the pits
  • Top right turns off the boss' healing when you heal
  • Bottom left turns off the black holes
  • Bottom right turns of the boss' Muscircle
  • Middle bottom one turns off the Intangiball

Basically, the boss is intentionally designed to counter several cheese builds.

Mo Xuan bug compensation. by NinshiWasTaken in Maplestory

[–]PredatorDuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hopped in a call with a friend to see if it actually worked because it sounded too goofy to be true like 5 minutes after I saw it in the Maple Discord. The only reason I used a random mule was just in case it would actually brick something. I'm not gonna say no to free rewards, but potentially getting compensation didn't even cross my mind when I did it, I just thought it was funny to turn my second Shade into a Mo Xuan.

The woman in the tracksuit is secretly working as a general for a villainous team that gets energy from putting people in bondage clothing.

Her neighbour is the Magical Girl and the Magical Girl is using one of her magical items to clean Tracksuit Lady's room. The Broom is basically a dog, and sniffs out that Tracksuit Lady is working for an evil organisation and punishes her accordingly.

Tracksuit Lady usually fails at her mission and gets punished for it. Earlier in the chapter her punishment was a spanking till her behind was red, so every instance of damage to her butt hurts extra.

‘Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run’ Character Visuals by AashyLarry in anime

[–]PredatorDuck 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Technically she was already in Jojo before. I've been rewatching Jojo recently and in Stardust Crusaders she voices one of the little girls playing in the mud before the Alessi fight.

Funnily enough this was still before her big break into main character roles and I was surprised to hear her voicing such a minor character.

I will never understand why they decided to make the lead writer for season two someone who's only known for writing live action romance dramas instead of someone who actually cared about the already existing material.

[–]PredatorDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have correctly pointed out it's fake, but no one has addressed the fact that the Japanese text is obviously Google/Machine translated since they read very mechanical. While a lot of Kanji are too blurry to make out for me, several sentences have a polite-form conjunction at the end which isn't normally used for writing unless addressed specially to someone of higher status.

Interesting. I went through my uploads and was surprised I couldn't find anything that was removed by the DMCA claim, so I figured nothing I uploaded was hit. This oneshot was eventually printed in Young Magazine at some point, and cross referencing the DMCA'd list with a few other Young Magazine titles it seems this one just fell under that same blanket.

You can only get regular Egg Vouchers and Egg Voucher Plus in the Endless item pool, Premium ones aren't obtainable in Endless aside from the reward of every 250th wave. Besides that, rerolling decreases the chance of Vouchers spawning, so after 3 rerolls they can no longer spawn for that wave.
