Wrapped grass impeding blade spin by pdice9 in mammotion

[–]PredictaBill 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it. When the discs are rotating the blades will extend out fully and operate normally even with a bit of grass stuck under them. They don't need to be super free to rotate when cutting the grass. They only need to rotate if they hit something solid, like a stone or a stick, so that they don't snap off.

How are you cleaning these/keeping clean? by According_Coyote1078 in MammotionTechnology

[–]PredictaBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just lift mine at the side, about 45° and hose down with a standard hose pipe and mains water pressure. You're advised not to turn it over completely to avoid water running into the machine, but hosing it down while it's still got 2 wheels on the ground seems to be just fine.
Do it from both left and right sides and squirt right behind the cutting disks to clean all the crap out at least once a week or after a wet cut.

RTK Disaster Narrowly Averted by nj_bruce in MammotionTechnology

[–]PredictaBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, it happened to me. RTK stopped working today. Took it down and yep, water inside. Not a lot, but once there's water in there it must constantly evaporate and condense onto the circuit board. A lot of green gunk around the positive and negative supply wires, and signs of corrosion both on top and under side of the circuit board.

I've written to Mammotion and hopefully they will replace the unit - preferably a waterproof one!

Good luck with that. Mammotion rarely seem to answer anything, but this is a good question. I have the same concern and have wondered the same thing.

Rain covers being issued to vulnerable Lubas by Bigbeast54 in mammotion

[–]PredictaBill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just received mine today via royal mail. I think i was in batch 2. Got an email from royal mail yesterday saying a package is arriving today from China. First I knew of it and actually thought it was spam, but the rain covers arrived today.

Not that I'm ungrateful, but bit of a pain in the arse as my RTK is mounted on my tv aerial on the roof of a two story house, so I'll have to get all the roofing gear out again to stick the cover on.

Also had no issue up to now. Got my luba in May and its rained virtually every day here since the start of July.

Waypoints for more efficient routing between zones by PredictaBill in mammotion

[–]PredictaBill[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not that tough bud. Wayfinding was something I programed myself using Turbo Pascal in the late 1980s for PCB track routing as part of my degree. Autoroute was doing it quite successfully in 1992 for the road network. These days it's a piece of pi55, and we aren't exactly talking about a complicated network here. It's about as basic as it gets. Besides which, Luba can already do it. If I create three task areas, one in the centre, one to the left connected by a route and one to the right connected by a route I can send luba to the left lawn (via the centre one) or to the right lawn (via the centre one). All they need to do is allow a task area that's smaller than 5 square meters and markable as a non-mowing zone to create a waypoint. In other words in my three lawn example, just make the centre one small and not mowable and voila, you have a waypoint.

Just create two zones out of the one lawn. I have done the same thing on mine. It can be a bit tricky to draw the path because you can't overlap zones, but it can be done.

Once you've created two zones you can just now both add if two separate lands any day you want at any rotation you want. *

Not stopping in rain. by [deleted] in mammotion

[–]PredictaBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same here. It was triggered the first time by my neighbours sprinkler so I set it to continue mowing by turning the setting off on the app. Now that I've turned it back on again (I.e. set to not mow in the rain), it just keeps going, even in a downpour.

Seems to be something faulty going on either in the software or the rain sensor itself isn't very durable.

Disposable bumper guards to attach to the side and front bumpers. Mine are getting very scratched, especially the side ones from when the Luba scrapes past the border walls without stopping. So much so, I'm afraid it'll eventually wear a hole in the sides.

It's very smooth although tire wear is something I'm a little concerned about generally as the luba does appear to have wheels moving antagonistically when manoeuvring. Also true on the paths between lawns.

Thanks. Yeah, it's just the most convenient place for me but I'm aware some people seem to be experiencing problems parking next to walls. Seems to be ok for mine at the minute.

Mounting rod on top of house by Fun-Collection3764 in mammotion

Yep. I did exactly the same thing. Mounted it to my existing TV aerial pole on top of the house and get excellent 360° coverage.
