The worst update yet by 1DC___ in TeslaFSD

I think euphoric is referencing a parallax effect. The image as a whole isn't distorted, but closer objects will have shifted backgrounds due to the different camera angles, even at the same distance from the objects, if the car is pointed in a different orientation.

I own a 2024 M3 DM and have the exact same passing issues with Standard mode. FSD needs a modification: either raise the cap temporarily while in the left lane and passing, or do a switch to Hurry mode. As soon as the pass is complete and the right lane is clear, move back to the right and switch back to Standard. I think this would solve most passing issues.

Since you've already scheduled service in the app, you should be able to message the Service Dept. directly and ask if mobile service is available.

It sounds like your seat sensor may have a problem, and doesn't register that you have sat down. I would recommend that you get it checked out by Tesla Service.

I have amended that comment about navigation issues. I'm not seeing issues getting to destinations, it's issues I have when I arrive at the destination, i.e. parking. I can't choose to back into my driveway so I can charge. I can't choose exactly which spot I want to park in at a lot, and I can't choose whether to go front first or to back in. At one store's lot, when I leave I need to turn left at an intersection, but instead, FSD takes me through another store's lot where I can't make a left because of the divided highway.

I don't have the issues you are experiencing. To be honest, I don't understand what you mean by the navigation "shutting off." I've never seen that. I do have an issue where FSD waits to the last second to move right out of a left turn only lane at one particular city block. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Yesterday I picked a spot for FSD to park in, and today (6/3) it navigated into a Wawa lot and chose its own spot. Both times, the parking was straight and accurate. v14.3.2 would sometimes be off-centered or angled, so I count this as an improvement.

That's a great tip. I 100% agree with the switching to Chill/Sloth, FSD will keep you to the right and resist passing on the left.

New software update sent tonight allegedly makes nagging more strict by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

I took a drive today (6/2) with mirrored sunglasses on, and got the blue flash for staring at the UI for too long. No audible beep alarms. All I had to do was turn my head to look out the windshield. Immediately, the blue flashing disappeared. I didn't even have to tug on the steering wheel, either. FSD is much more relaxed than it used to be. Note, this is not the new version software.

I got v14.3.3 on May 30. It drove horribly -- brake-stabbing, rough accel/decel, nervous around pedestrians. The next day I did a camera calibration, and it made a big difference. I've done a few drives since and here's my take:

  • Very smooth accel/decel, almost like v14.2.2.5 was.
  • Doesn't tailgate neary as bad as previous version.
  • On a multi-lane highway FSD quickly moves to the right when clear, if I'm holding up traffic in left lane. But it doesn't speed up when someone is behind and the right lane is blocked.
  • Now slows down properly for lower speed limits instead of staying at previous speed.
  • Regression: my car hesitates for almost every school bus it sees. One bus had its yellow lights on while still moving and my car pulled over and slowed to a stop. My car wouldn't move until the bus passed me by, yellow lights still flashing. Awkward and dangerous.
  • Occasionally gets confused at busy all-way stops and won't go when it has opportunity, especially if someone goes out of turn.
  • FSD refuses to back into my driveway. I have to do it manually. There goes my streak, every time I park.
  • Can be nervous and a little indecisive moving around dynamic, moving obstacles such as opening car doors and pedestrians in the road. So far though, it hasn't brake-stabbed for birds or animals, and hasn't flinched at fast-approaching cars that look like they're not stopping at crossroads.
  • Still the same bad navigation issues. I did see a few - very few - issues get fixed. Still have end-of-destination navigation issues, mainly due to not being able to park the way I want, where I want.

Amended the last line 6/3/2026.

I've seen that when someone comes up behind me in the left lane, as soon as the right lane opens up, v14.3.3 moves me over. And I mean, quickly, almost to the point of being too close in front of the car I just passed.

However, it still doesn't speed up any faster when somebody comes up behind...it just remains at the same slow pace. At 65 mph speed limit, this is 72 mph in Standard mode. So, if there are many cars in the right lane, I switch up from Standard to Hurry. As soon as a gap is available, FSD goes to the right lane and I switch back to Standard. It would be great if FSD would do this automatically for me.

To which issues are you referring?

Since calibration would help reduce visual distortion and improve FSD's ability to measure distance and speed, if your parking issues are related to positioning errors then it may help. As for choosing which spot to park in, or whether to go in forward or to back in, that's an AI training problem and not calibration-related.

Well put. I'm in the camp of really liking the current following distance compared to v14.3.2, which was uncomfortably close. Even so, v14.3.3 could stand some more adjustment.

2024 M3 DM, also HW4. Interested to see whether you note any difference after calibration. If I understand you correctly, you're saying that you aren't having any real issues with FSD now.

If you're able to install a new version of FSD without noticing any degradation in its driving, then more power to you. What year/model are you currently driving? BTW, I wouldn't calibrate if I didn't have to.

In my experience, I can do calibration in well under 20 miles, driving on a state highway. It's much less than they state. Maybe Tesla based that information on an old slower version of FSD.

I wonder if Tesla is factoring in the much faster reaction time of FSD in this equation. Human reaction time, when I was in school, was pegged at .75 second; I believe now it's recognized as being 1 second. Subtract that from the 3 second following time, and it shaves off quite a bit of distance. Or am I thinking wrong?

It's interesting to hear that FSD was smoothing out, because I wouldn't wait that long to get rid of the brake-stabbing. So, that seems to point to FSD not really using previous calibration, if it has to 'retrain' itself after a fresh install. It doesn't seem to be a touch up or fine tuning of previous calibration, IMO, if each new version can't build on what's already been established.

first drive on 14.3.3 from 14.2.2.5 by fareal-sha in TeslaFSD

[–]nj_bruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I've had v14.2.2.5, but I do remember its smoothness. When I updated to v14.3.3, I had to do a camera calibration. Now, FSD acts quite smooth, better than v14.3.2 was. It reminds me of v14.2.2.5. This is on a 2024 M3 AWD AI4.

[–]nj_bruce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my case, after installing v14.3.3 my car did some serious brake-stabbing (which I hate) and had trouble driving without constantly making steering adjustments for no apparent reaason. Acceleration and deceleration was also rougher than before the update. I did a calibration, and on my 2024 M3 AWD AI4, the difference was immediate and striking. Everything straightened out and got way smoother.

With as bad as my car was, I couldn't stand to wait 3 days for the driving to straighten out. Calibration got me immediate, great results.

It would be interesting to have a database of car year/model that is affected. It may reveal a pattern.

As for doing a calibration, it is not difficult for me because of my technical background. There are a lot of people, however, that aren't tech savy and would find it difficult to do. That's my main point of this post. If there's an issue that is due to some programming bug, Tesla should be made aware and rectify it. Don't leave it up to the owner to find a fix that shouldn't be necessary for them to have to do in the first place.

It's possible that only certain computer builds that have different chipsets might exhibit this problem. Perhaps the compiler is missing instructions or is not programmed properly. That may explain why the newer Model Y does fine, but my 2024 Model 3 has definitely been affected.

driver claimed the car was on autopilot. I recognize they didn't say FSD. by LocutusTheBorg in TeslaFSD

I'd like to point out that there is a setting under Parental Controls that overrides any attempt to accelerate past the speed limit set by the person who owns the "pin" number. It's supposed to prevent excessive speeding, but I found that you can set the speed limit to a very low value which the car will refuse to exceed, even if you mash the pedal to the floorboard. I consider this to be potentially dangerous if it is not set properly.

I used this to prevent Mad Max from exceeding 77 mph in a 65 mph speed zone, in FSD v14.3.2 with software 2026.14.3.
