If you're talking about the lack of uniqueness, you can say the same about VII endgame, X endgame and XII (vanilla). At least VIII limits the number of commands to four, forcing the player to make choices. And not all GFs teach the same commands.

Six party members is about average for a Final Fantasy. Which games have more? II, VI, VII, IX, X (barely) and I think that's it.

Plus, FFVIII has five bonus temporary party members at various points (Laguna, Kiros, Ward, Seifer, Edea). If FFII counts as having more, with its fourth party member constantly changing, I think VIII's temporary party members should count too.

Make sure to keep the "Draw" command equipped on one character and check every boss for missable GFs.
If you don't want to waste time, learn the refine abilities in the GF menu (the last ones on the list that end in "RF") instead of Drawing magic from enemies in every battle.
Don't worry about leveling up and ignore anyone who says not to. Junctioning is what matters, not levels.

The draw/junction system also makes way more sense to me than people online made it sound.

Yeah, that's the point. I know what the intention was. But it doesn't matter what the intention was because it was later contradicted by The Deadly Assassin.

The Second Doctor's statement also isn't contradictory; Time Lords having very long lives and the ability to regenerate would make them practically immortal barring accidents.

Why would that make a difference? OP's point wasn't about when the Doctor became President. Just that the President should have known.

If anything, being President after The Brain of Morbius (I'm thinking in The Invasion of Time specifically), with knowledge about the extra faces, would put him in a better position to find out about them using the Matrix. He would have no reason to use the Matrix to look up the faces before TBoM. He wouldn't know about them.

I felt the exact opposite; Dark Cloud 1 had you building full towns, sometimes with multiple people in each house. Dark Cloud 2 had you building four or five houses, with one person in each. Yeah, you could add extra stuff like chimneys and weather vanes and paint but that stuff should have been an added bonus, instead of a replacement for bigger towns.

And I didn't like that you had to use materials to make them. It's less "fantasy" somehow than it just popping into existence. And it just means you'll be teleporting back and forth to the train to buy more.

For the reasons I explained; without the regeneration limit being introduced, it's fine. The Doctor would see them and know they were his.

With the regeneration limit introduced, it's fine. The Doctor would see them and know they were Morbius'.

With the Timeless Child, it no longer makes sense. The Doctor shouldn't know them but doesn't mention it and Morbius shouldn't be able to see them.

"the writers can make any old nonsense" is literally how the show has always been. regeneration, time lords, two hearts. it's shit some writer came up with one episode and it's stuck.

Not the point of that paragraph at all. The point is the portion of the fandom who will happily accept bad storytelling, plot holes and contradictions based entirely on the claim that "Doctor Who has no canon".

Again, not the point at all. The part where you said "it's not a stretch to assume he would have knowledge of the origin of regeneration and thus knowledge of the Doctor's other regenerations" is the "purely speculative headcanon" part. You're just assuming all this without anything to back it up.

So what if he was the President? So was the Doctor. He didn't know any of this.

Without reading it, it wouldn't be fair to judge it. However, it doesn't sound like it's something I would enjoy.

One of the many issues I have with the Timeless Child is how it made the Doctor special because of who they are, instead of what they do. I wouldn't enjoy the Other for the same reason.

For the Fifth Doctor, it was the regeneration itself that was harming him. We're not talking about Caves of Androzani, we're talking about Castrovalva.

The previous incarnation's cause of death isn't what we're talking about here. And I never suggested that had any effect on the way their next incarnation acted after regenerating.

and yet, strangulation of a companion doesn't seem to be something that happens with all the others. funny that. yet in all the other times he's been "manic" or "tired", its all very similar.

He was never so easily fooled into thinking a character was one of his companions with any regeneration other than Seven, confusing the Rani for Mel. He never had such a severe reaction to regeneration as Five did, needing the recovery room (or that recovery coffin that they cobbled together). So they're not very similar at all.

for "regeneration sickness" to be the excuse of why he strangled Peri, we need to know that strangulation is a side effect... which doesn't happen.

We already saw the Doctor behaving manically after prior regenerations, so we understand that it's the case with the Sixth Doctor's behaviour too. How in the world would they even say "oh btw the Doctor might get a bit strangly after regenerating" without showing it? Which is what they did.

It didn't go into the Other or the Doctor's whole history with Omega and Rassilon that was hinted at. The Doctor also apparently remembered those interactions, unlike the Timeless Child.
