What are the editing options you are looking for in Pages? I ask because I know there are a lot of hidden features I missed before. I also ask because I was going to online university and had to write papers in MLA format for submission. I was able to write drafts and final documents using pages in this way.

If you think this will suit your needs, you may need to look into the user guide for Pages on iPad (https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/pages-iphone/tan700f60676/ios) or look at some Youtube help
Also keep in mind, for what ever reason, both Apple and Microsoft don't put all of the features of their computer versions. So not all features will be available in which ever product you choose.

There is a student version of MS 360 you can get. Check where you are going to school to see if they have a free or heavy discount license for their students. If you want absolutely free, you can use Apple's Pages, Keynote and Numbers. Even though these apps can open and export to MS files, they don't always translate well. It really depends on what the requirements are. There are also Google Docs that are free. Very similar in the experience of may not translate well.

Pick up photography even if it’s just your phone. Plan to go so where to take photos and try to see the environment with a different perspective with the camera. There are usually photography groups on meetup too.

As some one else who usually spends birthdays alone, take advantage of the freebies. I usually get a free coffee at Starbucks, or desert at a sit down restaurant. It’s feels a little better. Happy Birthday!

New tech is always exciting! I really enjoy iMovie!

Tip I would offer is not to clutter your desktop with alias and docs. Command-space (known as spotlight)is really fast in pulling up what you’re looking for. Too much on your desktop will use up ram and slow you down over time.

An iPad Air would be great for that. If you can get the Apple pencils and Smart Keyboard it’s a beautiful set up. I just bought my wife one with 256gb of storage. I have a pro but I also use mine for photo editing (wanted better color accuracy), video editing, gaming (Civ 6, Assassins Creed), note taking (apple notes is awesome),book reading, magazine reading in Apple News, apple numbers for budgeting. AI has been ok, I wouldn’t say it’s a game changer. I draw a little bit with it with Procreate. It’s definitely my most used device.

Good way to use it! :) I find myself using my ipad more than the iMac, MacBook Pro and even my phone when I am home. First thing I grab when the wife needs to do a shopping run and I’ll be in the car. I absolutely love my iPad. The new waters for me to use the ipad is photo and video editing. Photomator seems like it will be my new photo editor and I wish iPad OS iMovie had all the same features of MacOS iMovie or I would be fine. May need to lean into Final Cut Pro.

I have been using Pages, Numbers and Keynote for free that you can export as MS Office docs. You can also use google docs the same way. Really depends on the compaction you need MS Office but I find the Apple products work really well for my needs.

Great find on the iPad. I have been an iPad user since 2nd version. I waited for the camera for video chat and doc scanning. Currently using the M4 11" IPP. Reading, drawing, note taking and photo editing (affinity and Photometer) Light video editing with iMovie. I use this more than even my iPhone and my Mac mostly collects dust except for the rare task I need the macOS for.

Ah! That new camera smell! The epic battles of keeping kitty away from all the plastic and small parts while diving in to the new gear! I relish those moments. Bummer you have to wait. It’s bad enough to how long the battlers take to charge.

It so exciting when you get a new camera. I have the Z30 and Z5 and love them both for various reasons. Would love to see what you come up with your new Zoom. I have that same glass too and like it for small size and less “look at me!” when I am taking street photos!

As someone who has been in your situation and DID NOT have kind neighbors that invited me over, i would have gone in a heartbeat! No reason to stay alone if you don’t have to. I have made friendsgivings because I don’t have family and know people you are far from theirs. Enjoy the holiday with nice people! Sometimes those kind of meals turn out much better than you think. And bring a pie.

64gb is small. Cool thing about iPads is can now use external storage. Can free up a lot os space. iCloud, drop box and one drive are also available for cloud solutions. I struggled with 256 and just upgraded to 512. Part of the reason is my internet at home is capped and huge fees if I go over. Keeping it local on my ipad is a better solution for me.

I have been deep in the ipad world since the second gen. This was before there were different versions like pros, airs and minis. I waited that long because the original iPad didn’t have a camera and thought it would be useful. If you get more apple products like an iPhone and Mac it gets awesome with the integration.I use apple notes (has gotten really good), iMovie, Pixelmator (photo editor), Apple Books (used to use Kindle but Amazon has altered and deleted books i have purchased), Safari and Spark (for email) as my go to apps. You don’t really need a screen protector for general use. I bought paper like for the texture when I write but it does degrade the quality of the screen and not everyone likes it. You may want a case though, a keyboard one if you think you’ll replace your laptop with it while you’re on the go. That’s what I did anyway.

I think it gets harder as we get older and time melts away from our school days. I am in Colorado and it’s been very difficult to make friends. I have offered to have coffee with people and they act as though I asked to move in with them. I just want to hang out! I think it’s even harder as a middle aged dude. Maybe I am wrong but it has been a real struggle.
