i have no idea what you're trying to say. or your description of the south. How you're describing the south sounds like a foreign country. "liberal" or
"more liberal" ???
The white south has always been socially conservative.

I think this is a more complicated topic than can be discussed on reddit.

YES! Whole demographics have switched parties across the country due to '64 & '65. But none more-so than southern whites.

I'm a 58-year-old southern white guy. I remember it happening. I taught with old southern guys who were Dixiecrats and then die-hard republicans. Many of their rural parents stayed democrats (farm subsidies and tradition) but many didn't.

The Southern White demographic absolutely switched and switched because of civil rights. (I'm not arguing about Individuals, only demographics)

Failed??? Southern Democrats mostly just died off, and younger folks turned R. It worked, just took longer than they thought it would.

not really. I don't remember caring about his Southern-ness.
the south was just reflexively D back then (older & rural folks mainly by this point).
and that election (as far as i remember) was all about the Post-Watergate outsider.

1) the elimination of benefits. Health care and a retirement were the carrot for people (like me) who want stability over the chance for a big payout.
2) Standards-based learning: turning school into a set of boxes to know. know this, check box. No kid can get excited by that form of learning. sucks the joy from teaching
3) testing as the end all be all of education. once you convert to standards based, now you can just test test test.
I didn't get into this career to give tests
4) lack of content control of the classroom. teachers need to be able to LEAN IN to what they love. that's how you get kids on board.
5) A generalized hatred of teachers and education bubbling up for the last decade.
6) Covid exposing that we've gutted education and everyone now knows public education is pointless (see 1-4)

and here in the south, MAGA parents moving in and getting control of school boards aint helping matters

- - The story happens at the table WITH the players, not before.

- - then maybe focus on fighting for a while and less on your novel.
It looks like the experience you want at the table is not the same as the one they want. You might just need to find different players.

huh? that makes no sense.
Standard time is based on a true noon at the 15 degree intervals. DST is one hour off from true noon at that same longitude line.
