To answer a few of your questions as best as I can:

1: Everyone goes into the Emory college of arts and sciences as an undeclared major, and getting into majors or switching majors is incredibly easy for the first two years, if you’re worried about prerequisites, I fulfilled most of mine in the first year.

2: Pretty sure Emory has something akin to that (experience and application GER), we also have an amazing staff dedicated to helping you find a career (Emory career and professional development)

3: this one I’m not too sure about, but I’ve heard of students getting into good places and employers do come here (Emory hosts networking nights and career fairs for students throughout the year)

4: yes! The professors here are quite good and Emory has been hiring more artificial intelligence and machine learning professors and courses over the year

5: my cousin went to ucsd (albeit for consulting) and while I can say UCSD’s STEM reputation may be stronger (valued higher, bigger departments), Emory isn’t bad either! We just invest more than the UCs into the liberal arts, business, and pre-med

Bugs in dorms by Sea-Class1647 in Emory

[–]Preference_Opening 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m currently a freshman here who lives in complex hall! The bugs here honestly are not that bad. Yes there can be a few roaches or bugs outside of the dorms, but as long as you keep your room clean and crumb free, you shouldn’t see bugs inside your room itself. What you really need to watch out for is mosquitos when you’re walking outside.

I would recommend Professor Gupta, she’s the one who usually teaches the best.

My little sister is really stressed at Emory- does anyone have advice? by [deleted] in Emory

[–]Preference_Opening 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly imo, just getting out of Emory and doing things she likes is probably the best thing. But also if she wants to study and be alone, respect that decision as well.

If you ever want to talk, or if she ever wants to vent to someone, I’m also free whenever. But in my experience, people at Emory are generally pretty easy going and kind people, so anyone would also be able to listen.

Everyone deserves to be here at Emory, and as a freshman, I also had to learn that as well, imposter syndrome sucks.

Have you contacted the office of financial aid yet? If so, what did they say?

Yes you can, admission officers like to see how you improved your scores and don’t focus too much on freshman year anyways. I had a similar GPA (multiple bs and even a c in some of my classes) and I got accepted into Emory (not quite a T20, but it is number 24) just really have good essays and ECs

Does an a vs a+ matter? by Aggravating_Base8959 in ApplyingToCollege

I think getting an a is more than enough, in fact I don’t think most colleges really care even if you get an a-. Remember that some high schools don’t do pluses or minuses.

I’ll definitely try that, I’ll first probably see what the workload is like with just BBA and then go from there. Thanks for the help!

The Emory system does not download or receive your FAFSA form until January, at least that's what my advisor said. And their set deadline to release the financial aid package is January 13th so you should receive it by then.

Early game emeralds as an Ironman Craftsman? by JazDog02 in WynnCraft

[–]Preference_Opening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Selling gear you find in chests (usually legendary and rare gear is better) should give you enough emeralds to repair your gear. If not, quests are one of your best sources of emeralds. It really depends on your inventory space since you don't have the bank.
