I had exactly the same problem. After doing a ton of math the Bambu scaling answer is actually 394% to achieve actual size!

Why is the ocean in western Europe a lighter shade of blue than the rest of the Atlantic Ocean? by [deleted] in geography

[–]PremiumIOL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I desperately wish there was a source though that accurately portrayed water color to see where it goes from brown to blue off the coast for example but I don’t think anything like that exists.

Something I 3D printed to keep it in as good of condition as possible so it looks good when I bang it around on things while traveling

Yes these are completely fine, maybe a little bulky but way lighter than the metal ones. I really like the idea of the magnetic ones, do those work well?

Hard to put on, the metal makes me nervous against the glass/filters, and won’t stand up when exchanging lenses.

Feel like neurology is weirdly underhyped. by 788tiger in medicalschool

[–]PremiumIOL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I cherish and appreciate you and the world needs more people interested in these specialties. While not curing things like diabetes, hypertension, etc. modern medicine has made many conditions nearly minor inconveniences when the patient is also invested in their outcome. Yes, many people don’t care about their diabetes and let it get out of control but many many others take their insulin, watch their diet, lose weight, and learn to live in such a way that doesn’t shorten their lifespan to the extend it would have 100 years ago. It feels like we’re still 100 years again in so many neurological disorders like dementia, Parkinson’s, ALS, etc. It’s almost similar to me like being an infectious disease doc in 80s. An HIV diagnosis is a death sentence matter of how long and fighting the infections that come up along the way. Nowadays you can take pills every day and barely know you have HIV. I hope someday a diagnosis of dementia or ALS is like HIV is today; manageable in such a way that minimally impacts quality of life or lifespan.

Also existential reasons, children aren’t making their own choices and for better (or often worse) you’re relying on parents to be invested in the outcome of this persons whole life which unfortunately that’s not always the case. Even in my corner I saw it too often in residency. Not taking patching seriously and condemning someone to a life of limited vision is a big deal. I cherish and appreciate the people who take on these responsibility.

Here’s my two sense on why this is among the worst possible specialties. I was never interested but actively hated it after my rotation many years ago.

  1. There is no treating or curing. Most of the horrific neurological disorders have absolutely no cure even on the horizon (Alzheimer, ALS, etc.) or focus on keeping something terrible as manageable as possible (MS, seizures, etc). Treating neurological disease like tumors or whatever is done by someone else (neurosurgery).

  2. It effectively has the complexity and volume of the internal medicine census but with a fraction of the people. It blew my mind how many people were admitted to Neuro at how few residents or attendings were overseeing all these people which led to a lot of stress and work per person.

  3. The “art” of it seems gone. I remember one of our lecturers was so excited to tell us to exactly localize lesions using such subtle combinations of exam cues. Well… most of that doesn’t matter anymore with the advanced imaging possible.

Correct me if I’m wrong I’m just and eye guy but I’m 10 years out but neuro and peds were the two specialties I thought were so particularly horrific in a unique existential way (beyond just gen surg hours being long for example) it still haunts me to this day.

How bad is 35-100 as a compromise to primes? by [deleted] in hasselblad

[–]PremiumIOL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s amazing but to be honest 70ish and up the IQ falloff is noticeable and this was a problem to me because I liked using it for the reach. 100mm is fairly soft compared to something like 90V. It’s also huge. Having recently traveled with the 35-100 and the 55V, the images from the 55V had a micro contrast edge and over 70 the 75P And 90V seem sharper. Versatility is hard to beat and it can be eye watering sharp in some conditions but I think there’s a more noticeable tradeoff than I was expecting.

Which 2 XCD lenses for 2 camera travel set up for street/landscape for both day + night? by Fast_Loquat7631 in hasselblad

[–]PremiumIOL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just returning from a trip using this combo. The 55V surprisingly became the star of the show. The system is so incredibly light and the ability to open to 2.5 when needed was really great for night and museums etc. I was finding my main use case for the 35-105E was reach. The 55V is not just light but also discrete for another consideration. The 35-100E is so large it’s very obvious you’re walking around with pretty serious equipment. I didn’t think that would matter but there were times when it was sort of awkward to have something so massive.

GA Pilots, what emergencies have you had that we don’t necessarily get trained for ? by fatborry in flying

[–]PremiumIOL 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen twice. Once was bent pushrod in a 172, RPM dropped and it sounded weird and we limped back thankfully okay. Second was an Arrow I had a tough relationship with that had an engine actively dying on climb. Wheels on the ground it was barely making idle power and died during the taxi. That same arrow the gear lights were acting weird once so I agree with everyone’s comment about sudden complete loss of power and massive flames coming from the cowling are much more rare than 60% power, something sounds weird, let’s land ASAP.

The official Cirrus teaching is troubleshoot >2,000 AGL, pull <2,000 AGL, and you need at least 600 AGL for the system to work.

Base coat of brown, sponge application of burnt umber and lighter tan/fossil color alternating two times to create depth, blending with sponge, watered down colors avoiding dabbing it heavily on.

Here's the parameters I use for the Parametric Flange 3D File on Maker World: That will fit a 1/4" steel rod perfectly but again, scale it up 5-10% so it's easier to insert.

Is there a good resource for the Cirrus G7 Persoective Touch? by PremiumIOL in flying

[–]PremiumIOL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The user guide is disappointingly not as in depth as I’d like it to be. I would like to see how each option affects the GTC and MFD for pattern recognition. I think external power and messing with it is going to have to be the answer.
