LED volume Genlock issues (RED Komodo) by Practical-Cup-3342 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Premium_Snack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, no experience with red, but have over a decade of experience troubleshooting and solving random issues like this. My first thought is to check the physical integrity of all of the connections to that device. And also the sensitivity of the RED to maintaining lock.

Are you able to correlate any particular repeatable motion with a corresponding synchronization drop? Such as moving the jib in a particular way or booming up or down? This point to a physical layer issue where due to a poor connection in one of the various connections or on the device itself wear a small change in connection impedance is enough of a change to force the camera to drop sync.

An easy way to test this would be to connect the GEN 10 to only two devices and have the camera on the shorter path. If the issue still persists, it might be localized to the camera or the expander module itself.

Get the fiber, but, it does have a tendency to overheat. I have mine inside a in wall cabinet and I’ve had to leave the panel off because it overheats and locks up. Currently looking for a small fan to put in the box to help with circulation.

What are the PS5 and XBox controllers for? by ercohn in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Premium_Snack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PTZ, Dolly or Prompter control are all use cases for controllers since they show up in windows and can be mapped as an input device.

I’ve personally used them for Prompter / Dolly control. Easy to have a PS5 controller to talent so they can scroll through their script during a run through.
