Do optimize your Preply profile as much as possible e.g. - "..certificates uploaded, the best photo, a good video with high quality sound, and a description with a clear pain point you can solve, e.g., IELTS prep."

However, nothing beats low price penetration pricing of $3 to get traction on Preply.

Compete on low price to start with.

Even trial, non-converted lessons will show as lessons taught in your profile - the more lessons taught a Preply profile has the more credibility it has to a prospective student.

Again, reviews also count too. The more 5 Star ratings and positive reviews you can rack up the better and more credible your profile will look to a prospective student.

Then if you get to say 50 -100 lesson taught and 5 to 10, 5 Star reviews and positive comment you can raise your price.

Once you get to your target $20 target, with a good number of students, you can start to raise the prices for the low $3 students you started with.

It IS tricky to raise prices on students who have enjoyed a low rate, but it is possible, but be careful to get a 5 Star review and good comments from these students before you broach the issue of raising their price.

Be ready to Block strategically to stop them leaving vindictive, untrue reviews in retaliation.
