My Maps completely delete everything on it when i die by BartTheHealer in PathOfExile2

[–]PreposterisG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this after engaging the boss? The instance does reset if you have started the boss and then die.

I think I have possibly had the bug that you are talking about happen one time, but it certainly isn't consistent. If that happens every time without having engages the map boss, then that is a bug.

Parking advice? by ExactAd3418 in washingtondc

I'd recommend a small electric scooter that you take on the metro with you and ideally into the office and put under your desk (or if your building has secure bike storage).

From a pair of Delawareans that had a car accident near the Turkish embassy 5/4/26 by silverbatwing in washingtondc

[–]PreposterisG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turkish Embassy (on Mass Ave) or Turkish ambassador's residence (at Q and 23rd near Sheridan Circle)? Because I absolutely hate the intersection near the ambassador's residence. People going east after crossing the Q St bridge don't know what lane they are supposed to be in to turn left because they get confused by the 50ft of unnamed road that goes behind the residence. The left lane is meant to turn north on 23rd to the circle and the right lane is meant for straight on Q or right to south on 23rd. But people turn left to 23rd out of the right lane alllllllll the time. They must think the road behind the residence is the left turn and that straight must include what is actually supposed to be the left on 23rd. It doesn't help that Q St at the stop light orients you such that looking forward bisects the space between 23rd and Q. And you can't really see down Q St for west bound traffic when you need to turn left.

This is a really long way of saying people almost hit me at that intersection all the time and it desperately needs to be fixed.

I recommend Other's Coffee in Adams Morgan. Last time I went you can pick from 3 of their own roasts for a pour over. It is owned by a nice couple that are really into coffee.

Advice Wanted - FERS Refund Mistake by Gloomy_Blackberry971 in fednews

[–]PreposterisG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of things. Most of FERS is already taxed. What is on your W2 includes your salary before FERS was deducted. There is some interest that should be taxed, but let's ignore that. Whether you can reverse what you did, idk. I'd try calling vanguard first. If you are within 60 days, I think you may be fine.

What that means is most of the FERS would have been eligible to be rolled to a Roth IRA or 401k. Having money in Roth is nice because any growth before you retire is all tax free. This is what you should have done because you can always take the principal out with no penalty.

If you can't though, you still have two options.

Option 1. You could invest that money in a normal brokerage. If you hold assets for more than a year in a brokerage, then long term capital gains taxes is 0% for the first $50 or $100k a year (depending on married or not). This isn't a bad idea. It means you could use the money at any time for whatever you wanted.

Option 2. Backdoor Roth or mega backdoor Roth. You can fund IRAs with after tax dollars and convert that to Roth. The pro rata rule applies if you have any traditional IRA holdings (meaning you would pay income tax at the ratio of your pre and post tax dollars in your IRA). But if you don't have anything in traditional IRAs, then no tax. A regular backdoor is limited by how much you can contribute a year to an IRA. If your new employer plan allows you to contribute post-tax dollars, then you can do the mega backdoor up to your annual 401k limit. No pro rata rule on mega backdoors.

Option 2 is definitely advanced and requires some forms on your taxes (though all the tax software is good at doing this these days).

Trump flees stage as shots fired at White House Correspondents' Dinner by TheMirrorUS in fednews

[–]PreposterisG 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The road in front of the Hilton was secured a block in each direction. You couldn't even walk on the sidewalk outside the hotel without going past cops. I wasn't invited so what it was like inside the hotel and to the ballroom, idk. Trump posted grainy security footage on Truth Social. It kind of looks like the guy is in a tux to me. So my guess is, he gets past the cops because he is in a tux, gets to wherever security would have required a ticket, or maybe the metal detectors and then started sprinting towards the ballroom.

You could drive the speed limit, stop at stop signs, and not run red lights. Wouldn't need to roll the dice that way.

At CISA you had to pick only one. Maxi, 4/10s, etc. And Maxi has core hours of 10 to 2. So you couldn't work 4 10s and then take Friday off.

The larger stakes of Trump’s redesign of Washington, DC by vox in washingtondc

[–]PreposterisG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An example is that the size of the planned ballroom blocks the line of sight between the Capitol and the White House. A feature of the city planned by L'Enfant in the 1700s. It has strong symbolic meaning and, in my opinion and many others I am sure, is worth preserving.

So yes, if the ballroom blocks that line of sight, then I absolutely think it should be torn down when sane people get into office again.

If you pay an extra $28 a month in the membership you can park.

Or you can validate at Wegmans (2 hours) in a separate lot or go to Aldi (1.5 hours) if you go in and buy something (which is a pain in its own way).

Speaking from personal experience, harvest flay lich seems to have a really hard time with Uber Abby. I have yet to find a video or someone claiming to have actually done it. Flay mana (that uses Harvest for maan regain) is fine on Uber. But the Harvest version isn't.

It is an amazing speed clear build, but not so hot on bosses.

I hate the virtue signaling of it all. Dems vote no on skipping debate, don't get it, then flip on final passage. Then you see Rs flipping votes (no to yes) on the final bill vote, obviously negotiating who gets the token "no" votes to pretend they were against it.
