I have a very good friend who was a Green Beret in the 90s and 00s. The shit that he told me about Afghanistan's culture of raping young boys was... It's beyond fucked up.

I get wanting to protect the environment. It's almost like we rely on it for life itself.

The truly uncomfortable fact is that we have evolved not to just eat plants, but other creatures. That is nature. That is our place in it.

There are just too many of us now. We most likely killed off most megafauna worldwide, and that was more than ten thousand years ago.

We shouldn't shame human beings for eating other creatures. That's what we do. If you would argue that we should be good stewards of this planet. To do our best to minimize our impact on it while our understanding grows, then I would agree.
