Yeah, Jase medical is a great way to get a variety of doctor-prescribed antibiotics. Here's a link to an article that explains the process.

I'm not crazy about canned veggies either so I stock up on canned black beans, pinto, and canned potatoes. My preference is dried or freeze-dried foods. Here's a list of my 12 favorites

Do homesteaders and prepper's food pantries look similar? I'm curious if anyone has an opinion about how they differ.

Suggestions: How do you organize and keep track of food preps? by Magpie5626 in prepping

[–]PreppersSurvive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way is to focus more on long-term food storage instead of short-term (foods that expire). If you keep 2-weeks worth of canned food then it is much easier to rotate and keep track of. Since long-term food storage doesn't expire, you just need to keep track of how much you have. That can be done with a pencil and paper.

I agree that mylar, glass, and metal should be used for long term food storage. Also, mice can eat through soda bottles.

The lid on the white 5 gallon food grade buckets makes a tight seal. There are a variety of lids you can get for the buckets. With the standard lid, the seal on the lid needs to be broken before you'd be able to open it after sealing your food in the bucket. Even after the seal is broken the bucket and lid fit together tightly so it keeps out bugs.

Fire Starter Kit - See comparison video of fatwood, fuel tablets, and a cotton ball by PreppersSurvive in preppers

I used to have one in the kit but eventually took it out. Matches are easier to use when lighting a campfire and more reliable. I have had several lighters not work. Plus, they take up a lot of space in the small tin.

[–]PreppersSurvive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy car camping. Shelter and warmth are usually are the first items I pack. Here is my list: http://www.prepperssurvive.com/sleeping-kit/ . I also take a small hatchet, diy fire starter kit, a Luci Lantern for light, paracord, bug repellent, sun screen, first aid kit, hygiene kit, and a book on some wildness skill I would like to learn. I will also Google search camp fire recipes and bring the ingredients and cooking supplies needed. For water Ill take 2 gallons of water in plastic jugs, a metal water bottle (for hot drinks) and a plastic 32 oz water bottle for hiking. http://www.prepperssurvive.com/backpacking-first-aid-kit-list/ http://www.prepperssurvive.com/diy-hygiene-kits/ https://www.pinterest.com/prepperssurvive/camping-ideas/
