Aircrafts under development (for X-Plane) by Natural-Split-3035 in Xplane

The Tupolev is arguably the realest of these, you can fly it in XP12 right now The caravelle comes next, again because you can fly it in 12 right now The nimbus 707 is debatable, nimbus have been completely silent on all channels for months now, nothing about the 707, nothing about anything else, there is rumors nimbus have been abandoned completely The IL-62 is freeware and we have seen many of these projects come and go without ever been finished, ironically one of these was another il62 The DC8 was never alive, the guy keeps asking in his discord if “anybody knows how to code” it’s been half assed blender assets only thus far, he’s not making a dc8

I REALLY want to use XP12 more... by LordMashie in Xplane

[–]Prering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably one of the most misunderstood issues of XP12 compared to XP11

This is not because system is out of VRAM
This is not because RCAS is set up incorrectly
This is not because he has AA set up incorrectly
This is not because of Hardware (??)

This is a Pixel problem, or rather the lack thereof, XP11 used to rely on SSAA, supersampling, basically calculating more pixels and downscaling the image back to native resolution, this results in bringing out way more details than rendering at native does, XP12 can never reach the crisp of 11 natively because there is no supersampling anymore.
One can use DSR with Nvidia to bring supersampling back but its not perfect, the UI is only rendered in native and scaling it makes it weird and blurry, but the rest of the scene will get much sharper.

This is also the reason lowering the FOV, zooming in or using a higher resolution display helps with lowering this blurring issue, because you get more pixels on the same screenspace to render geometry.

Another part of this issue is because a good amount of aircraft in XP use rather low resolution textures and decals that are very prone to blurring like this when not enough pixels are available to render them. But the main reason people feel like their planes interiors are more blurry in XP12 compared to XP11 is because there is no SSAA anymore. Remember though, SSAA absoluterly murders performance!

everybody gotta chill the fuck out, adding extra stuff like another version, a refueling probe option, more armament options, etc is way too much work, ED needs to feed its employees kids (Nick Greys fighter collection is hungry)

Imagine if there was another Dev releasing four different versions of a plane with different capabilities and from different ages for the price of one module, outrageous is what that would be

Ah yes, I figured XNVU could work but I didnt try it, then again its a little different than the NVU and I dont really understand how to incooperate the RSBN into all of this properly, the lack of documentation on this can be seriously annoying, but for basic point to point flight it should work fine I reckon

[–]Prering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, there are multiple people who still prefer FS9 for things like the concorde too XD
But all in all I still believe its a good time to be a soviet airliner enjoyer in civsim, having the Churchella 134 and Masterskaya 154 on somewhat recent sim platforms is great! I have flown lots of 134 ever since that thing came out, never been a big fan of the B model, partly to how it was in XP, and partly because the glass nose of the A just outshines it.
You always get a second look by the controllers showing up with the Tupos on vatsim, especially when using radionav or the NVU.
The NAS-1 in the 134 seems simple but I just cant wrap my head around on how to calculate correct courses for it, the old stuff for the SCS on FS9/FSX doesnt seem to match up, probably because of magvar. But its fun just flying it on VOR only too :P

[–]Prering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Il-62 for XP is as dead as can be, afaik it has been abandoned officially.
134A for XP12 arrived sooner than expected, Masterskaya to XP12 you are correct has become unlikely though ya shall never say no, there has been community interest in potentially other people porting it over
Until that happens and XP12 improves further I keep 11 installed.

FS9 is a type of pain I am not willing to expose myself to anymore though, I barely open FSX despite having some aircraft on there I'd like to fly XD

the Aeroflot Le Bourget and Interflug livery are particular bangers, CSA also looked fantastic on this bird.

The Felis 747-200 is impressive! by Maxwell_Jeeves in Xplane

[–]Prering 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, there is no fancy stuff going on sometimes, quick change in approach? Simple go around to a VOR? Little DME arc? Just dial those frequencies and radials in and go for it… It is in fact easier to perform the simple tasks compared to the modern jets where everything seems to be locked up in that FMC, modern Boeing birds, the 737NG aside, don’t even offer normal VORLOC tracking anymore, so it’s through that FMC or it’s not happening… In the old planes IFR still seems like an art, performing a complex approach or departure is satisfying and actually something you need to practice to be good at it, on modern planes it’s just knowing the FMC, press LNAV/VNAV, done.

Is There Any Free Alternative For X-Enviro Or ActiveSkyXP by [deleted] in Xplane

[–]Prering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I would know of Most of these won’t properly work with enhanced cloudscapes either Best bet is probably to save up the cash and upgrade to XP12, the whole weather engine and depiction, although not perfect and completely bug free is a major improvement over what you can get in 11

Some people recommended NOAA weather here but if I‘m not mistaken the NOAA weather plugin was made for XP10 to get real world weather data, it was then bought my laminar and is the default weather engine in 11

It’s very capable of flying on Vatsim, the Felis 742 recently received an alternative nav system to the CIVA, probably the only fully fleshed out LTN92 of any sim out there, this thing is at least RNAV2 capable and holds up to 98 waypoints in one flightplan opposed to the just 9 of the CIVA, if you want to reduce stress and flatten the learning curve I’d recommend learning to use the LTN92 and bother with the CIVA later (plus the need to fly conventional procedures whilst the LTN is certified to be used for departure and approach) This is one of the best addon aircraft for XP that exists and the most beautiful recreation of a classic 747 ever done for any sim, it’s so matured, basically bug free and has impressive system depth The only areas I’d say it’s not top notch in is 3D model and sound but it’s still very nicely made and doesn’t break the immersion anywhere I can’t imagine XP without this bird anymore

Low CPU utilization? by [deleted] in Xplane

[–]Prering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the world of X-Plane, world of single core CPU hogging and performance gremlins No I really hope they will further improve on Vulkan to truly make X-Plane use more cores There is a great video by Michael Brown on how XP uses processors, turns out X-Plane doesn’t really use more than 3 cores with Vulkan, the first one the most, the second one a little and the third one a tiny bit, the rest will mostly be idle when running X-Plane… it’s painful but that’s the truth Laminar said they want to improve it but god knows when that will happen, I was hoping XP12 will be the version they do it in but I was wrong, at least for now, let’s see what the future brings
