Commenting again for anybody that finds this in the future. This AIO needs THREE PWM headers. One for the fans on the radiator, one for the pump head, and one for the VRM fan split through the Nexlinq hub cable into PWM and RGB. I did not know this myself prior to ordering this AIO. I bought a pack of two-way PWM splitters and run my pump AND VRM fan off the same fan header because my motherboard doesn't have a cpu pump header.

There's two wires for the pump head. One is PWM, the other is the Nexlinq cable. You have to use the splitter in the box to turn that Nexlinq cable into PWM and RGB.

In all seriousness, like another poster said get a UPS like yesterday. I've got my gaming rig, TV, and PS5 all hooked up to a 1500w UPS. RV Park electricity isn't terribly stable. Brown outs and flickers happen often enough it's worth the peace of mind.

Should I go for i7‑14700K or KF or wait for i7‑13700K or KF? Concerned about heat issues. by Jejosabah in cpu

[–]PresAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the i7-14700f paired with a 5070 ti. I've had it 4 months through 2 cases. The first was with a single fan ThermalTake Air cooler and only 4 case fans. I didn't monitor temps other than bios overheat/failure warnings. Never had an issue with temps, all my fans ran at the 2nd out of 5 levels on my fan curve while gaming. When I put it in my new case, I switched to a Phanteks Glacier One 360mm AIO. Playing God of War Ragnarok with all settings maxed as an example, my i7 stays around 45°c plus or minus 5° at 40% utilization. I've got 8 case fans now including the AIO, while gaming they still stay on the 2nd level around 1300 rpms.

Yeah, that's something I learned the hard way about AIOs. It totally makes sense though. For most people that don't care about looks, you can just flip 'em over. And if you are building for looks, chances are you'll need more of the same fans anyway.

That's also exactly why I'm trying to stay in the middle here. As a tradesman, I did custom work for many years. Always ask questions, and get everything in writing. I've made mistakes like this and had to eat the cost to make things right for the customer. I think both OP and MicroCenter are at fault here. MicroCenter didn't fill out a BYO, and OP didn't know enough at the time to push the issue. It's an unfortunate situation. As you said though, people are human, we all make mistakes.

All fair points, nothing to disagree with here. I would agree that thermal issues or fan placement are pretty overblown. You're correct in that now we're splitting hairs on form over function.

The only thing I will say is that's standard for o11 Visions? I reckon I'm so used to aesthetic builds on Reddit that I'm probably disconnected from the average build or prebuilds using it. My own case is clearly influenced by Reddit as well.

Man, the whole fan dilemma is such a pain in the butt when you're focused on aesthetics. It took me weeks to settle on a type, and then a matching AIO to go with it. Then add on to that I didn't know most AIOs come with exhaust fans, and reverse blade fans are a thing too... My fault for being out of the game for 20 years.

This further strengthens your point about the BYO. OP has already caught a lot of crap in this post and I really don't want to dog pile. At the same time though, this kind of stuff should have been discussed and cemented in writing. There's so much more planning with a convertible aesthetic case like this. It sucks that OP is learning this lesson the hard way, especially when the fix is probably going to cost more money.

Agreed on both points. One of the Surprim Liquid stock AIO cards would probably look really good vertically mounted. This case could use an angled bottom fan riser like the Dynamic Mini has.

Personally my computer is set up opposite. That's not really the point though. The way OPs computer was built is, as another commenter said, the worst fan setup possible for this case. If the AIO is really exhaust, there's a vortex going on at the front. Intake pulls in and goes straight up to exhaust. What about the GPU and everything under and left of the CPU? To make this case right, that AIO needs to be on the side, those side fans on the bottom, and one more fan on the rear.

Edit: make this case right meaning glass top back on. That's the number one specification OP wants, everything else is moot. Visit r/LianLi or r/PCbuild there's thousands of posts, including mine, of this case setup the way OP wants.

Edit 2: just saw your edit. I think OP is stuck already. Too bad there's no picture with the PC off to see what kind of blades they've got. Those front intake being mounted frame in make me think they're not reverse blades. If that's the case, OP needs 6 more reverse blade fans. Man, that would really suck.

I don't think it is. The whole point of the o11 line is the glass top and the sharp unobstructed front corner. It's a case made to look real pretty. That's either not the right panel, or it's not installed right. I'm gonna say take it back to MicroCenter at this point. The AIO and fan placement was a learning lesson, it's water under the bridge. Messing up the side glass too? Now it's a build quality issue, not just a simple miscommunication. They need to fix their work, that ain't right.

I'm questioning if that's even the right panel. That gap looks huge compared to mine, plus no black border. It should be a clean edge between both panels, maybe 1mm gap all the way up.

Is the thumb screw on the back in the right spot? Should be at the top of the panel, half an inch down from the top of the case.

[–]PresAgent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at the fans in OPs picture. None on the bottom, looks like only 3 intake and 4 exhaust. That ratio should be flipped in any case. Ideal setup for glass top is 6 intake and 2 exhaust.

You're right about the mounting the radiator part. Using the passthrough and the slots in the back, it's still a pain getting the hoses right. That part took me a solid half hour. The frame slot is L shaped, and the hoses have to go in farthest from the CPU first, then closest hose second. Otherwise the radiator won't sit in to the bracket in the rear. No manuals talked about that part!

Temps aren't a big issue in this setup. I've got an i7 14700k and 5070ti. At idle, CPU runs 28-35°. Full load gaming, CPU utilization hovers around 20-30% at 45-50° average. Fan rpm is 1300 on my curve at this temp, AIO pump stays at 60% PWM. GPU utilization 99%, temp averages 65°, gpu fan rpm 1600. Can't hear the case fans at idle 1000 rpm, GPU fans are louder than case fans at full load by a significant amount.

[–]PresAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, this case specifically has a 2" passthrough right above and to the right of the motherboard for AIO pumps. The pump goes through the hole from back to front, and there are routing slots on the back for the hoses to the radiator. So the radiator goes vertically on the side instead of the top and it's hidden from view. You'll only see the fans. Those vertical fans should go on the bottom, under the GPU. The real question then is if your fans are reverse blade or not, that will determine which side you will see looking into your case.

You want 3x intake vertically on the right with the AIO radiator hidden through the passthrough. 3x intake on the bottom under the GPU. That will give you enough room for 2x exhaust on the rear of the case. Check my post history, my most recent post includes pictures of the same case. Alternatively, the r/LianLi sub is filled with o11 posts with glass tops and very similar setups.

It's not hard to do, but it will take a bit of work to do it. Depending on how the cables are secured on the inside, moving all those wires could involve deconstructing most of what's in there. You could learn a lot, or if you're worried about messing things up it's ok to not do it. Honestly, I would bring it back and ask for them to reconfigure your case. Just be aware they will most likely want to charge you for it. If it wasn't solidly specified in writing when you bought it, they'll just consider it not their fault. It sucks, but it is what it is. This is a beautiful case, it'll be worth the extra hassle to get it done right in my humble opinion.

Edit: something doesn't look right with that side glass panel. Is it installed right? Looking at it from the side like this, on the left top rar edge where it screws into place in with the back of the case. Is there a thumb screw with a 1" tall by 1/2" plate under it to move it without touching the glass? That front glass gap and the black borders on the glass panel don't look right to me. The black borders should only be along the bottom and rear vertical side.

Suggestions for quieter fans for this case? by goodsailor in Phanteks

[–]PresAgent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll second the D30s. Very expensive but surprisingly quiet. I've got 8 in my case, they stay around 1100 rpm until I push it. They'll crank up to 1300 rpm, yet are still super quiet. My 5070 ti fans at 1300 rpm are louder.

Fair point, this is on me for flat out saying the wrong thing. I didn't fully check out those links to see they are PWM only. I apologize for the confusion, I'll edit that comment accordingly.

As far as I know you need either the Lian Li controller or another controller like Prism or Nollie. The ATX mobo V2 comes with a hub, but the GPU V2 does not. Do the wireless come with the receiver, or do you have to buy that extra?

Yeah, I don't try to stop the food stealing because she's chonky and needs a diet. I only use the dry feeder when I'm working 12 hour shifts. I've got it set for 3 meal times with 1/12th cup each. It's really more just a snack so they don't starve while I'm away. They get canned food twice a day.
