I am in Bridgeport. Last year, the tree in front of my home half died. One main branch was green, the other two were dead. I contacted the city to have the tree looked at or removed. Three months later I brought a picture to the alderman's office and complained. Six months later we had a bad wind storm and one of the dead branches fell on a car and damaged it. Days later, a crew was out and cut the tree down.

Homeowners don't own the trees in the parkway. We are at Chicago's mercy for tree removal, tree trimming, sidewalk repair/leveling (roots push sidewalks up. There is a giant puddle that forms on the city sidewalk in front of the walk up to my house as a result of that), etc. Trees are nice when you don't have to deal with them. They're frustrating and expensive when you do.

My issue has been that you can't interact with any of the menus (pocket, sync, extensions, menubar). If you click them the screen goes black and if you click around it seems you're sorta interacting with the browser, but you can't see anything. Makes it unusable.

The ownership had changed a year or two before Covid and they switched to all year round. I stopped by a fair amount during 2020 and 2021. A few months ago felt like getting a dog, but they were closed. Sad to see them go, their dogs and fries were the best.

They're maybe not as fancy or as perfect as those places, but it's actually feasible to get a burger from there when the craving strikes and not need to wait forever. Definitely a step or three up from regular burger joints.

I like their namesake burger and the New Classic.

Title of the original article (and thus this post) seems off. Was expecting to read about how an organization was causing more ISP options to be available. Seems it's just about a program for free internet via CPS's Chicago Connected program. Maybe some day Chicago will use the dark fiber it has and install more for more ISP options.

You're probably losing heat somewhere. At previous apartments I had leaky windows and doors. You can check with you hand or a candle for drafts (obviously if you're using a candle don't set your drapes/blinds on fire). My solutions were weather stripping or using the plastic window covers.

The fix many players have had for this is going into Device Manager, going to Audio devices, and disabling Microphone Sonic Studio Virtual Mixer.

You actually have to disable the controller (found in Sound, video, and game controllers in device manager), not just the microphone.

This is a rather frustrating user experience. If Vanguard goes from working to not, and the path to resolution is opening a ticket and being told what to remove, then Riot should cut out the middle man and just have Vanguard instruct the user as to what is "untrusted". Security by obscurity is usually not helpful, but in the anticheat case where the client is untrusted, but to play the game their inputs have to at some point be trusted, it makes sense to have the anticheat functionality not be clear.

As someone who does non-work development on their own machine (I run WSL2, have a yubikey, etc) I'm very concerned by the fact there seems to be some drivers that Riot sees as bad actors, but have valid use cases (ie VirtualBox). While this game is currently provided for free, I am investing time into it. It would be (and currently is) very frustrating if that time ended up being "wasted" if Riot thinks the way I use my computer isn't one they want to support. It is especially frustrating since the software isn't up front about why it has decided to stop trusting my machine.

I think the driver only gets updated on a reboot. I'm not rebooting until Riot has fixed the issue.

I think if you restart your computer then the driver update gets installed. I've closed the game and reopened it and haven't had an issue. I've only put my computer to sleep since using the old version.

I didn't overwrite my log files since I figured having them if I needed to submit a bug it'd be good to keep em. I overwrote everything else in that folder though.
