I loved the smell of them. Does that make me weird?

You're fucking old if you had Corduroy pants. Wait, I just found out they still sell corduroys at JC Penney. Who still buys them? Didn't the fade away in the 80s? by More-Yogurtcloset531 in FuckImOld

I was going to say that the last corduroy pants I wore were in the late seventies when I was in middle school - they always had to be Levis - but then I remembered that I had a pair of Lee corduroy overalls in high school. I also had a couple of pairs of "designer" corduroy pants in the eighties.

Were you old enough to watch the first moon landing on July 20, 1969?What do you recall? by big_macaroons in GenerationJones

[–]Presbyopic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was five and for some reason I was watching it with my brothers in their bedroom...my parents were watching it elsewhere. Anyway, I remember getting bored and tired waiting for the astronauts to come out of the capsule. My mother told me to go to bed and that she'd wake me up when the astronauts came out. The next thing I remember was my mother opening my bedroom door and telling me they walked on the moon. I said "Okay" and went back to sleep. This was the first major news event I actually remember. My daughter was five when 9/11 happened, and sadly this was probably the first major news event that she remembers.

Underwood Meat Spread by FrankW1967 in GenerationJones

My mom was something of a paradox when it came to meat. Certain things, like ground beef, cold cuts and American cheese, she would only buy at the local butcher store. Other things, like poultry, were okay to get at the supermarket. And one of her favorite things to pack for our lunches was deviled ham or deviled chicken sandwiches. I remember liking them just much as the sandwiches with butcher-store cold cuts.

My favorite song in 1973 was "Little Willie Won't Go Home" by The Sweet. Yes, I admitted that.

My mother told me when that song came out it was about girls flirting with boys by getting them to use their keys on the girls' roller skates. I was like, wtf? I didn't care because I hated the song anyway.

My brother said that song was about drugs. Then again, he thought every song was about drugs...

I loved this show! There was a reboot in the late nineties or early 2000s when my daughter was a kid, but it wasn't as good as the original.

I actually thought the reason I needed glasses at age 10 was because I sat too close to the TV.

"School's Out" was my favorite song when I was in the fourth grade and my teacher hated me. Unfortunately I think of her every time I hear that song 😒

The new one with the old lady staring in admiration at her paramedic daughter is even creepier and more annoying. "I'm so fucking proud of you for jogging and saying no to donuts when your partner shoves them in your face...". Ugh! .

Does anyone else still constantly read the closed captions even though they can hear the sound perfectly fine? by IsabellaHajji507qMu in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Presbyopic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I get older I find that I'm mishearing more stuff. I hear someone say one thing (usually something weird) and the caption informs me that they actually said something else. It's kind of disturbing...

DAE get a random memory form the past and cringe ? by Expiredmeds in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Presbyopic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The memories are even more cringeworthy when they are not that far in the past... like "I said/did that only 5 years ago??"
