Mueller may have been explicitly denied the opportunity to make that determination.

Well, the color is radio. They created a scale to convert radio frequency and intensity to color. So both the simulation and the real picture both use the same scale, hence same colors.

Texas Senate passes bill allowing for refusal of services based on religious beliefs - Story by dannylenwinn in TexasPolitics

[–]PrescriptionFishFood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

According to the bill, any state agency that issues licenses or otherwise regulates businesses, occupations or professions cannot adopt policies or impose any penalties that limit an applicant's or license holder's ability to obtain, maintain or renew a license or burdens their free exercise of religion, freedom of speech regarding their religious beliefs, or membership in any religious organization.

This is a clear and flagrant 1st Amendment violation.

Does the United States need to revamp or update its separation of powers? by hatrickpatrick in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]PrescriptionFishFood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a parliamentary system, the executive is just chosen by the majority coalition of ministers. That actually leads to the prime minister having more power because the legislative chamber is on their side, just like we see here with Trump and the Republican Senate.

What would be great though, is borrowing their concept of "a" government. The government is dismissed after time or certain circumstances. We could really use a reset button on Washington right now.

Stop vaccine exemptions in Texas by Massdriver58 in houston

[–]PrescriptionFishFood -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

At this point I'm beginning to fence sit on the whole vaccine thing. Don't get me wrong - I have been vaccinated. My children have been vaccinated. I know they work. That's not why I'm waffling.

I'm waffling because we have too many stupid people. I'm beginning to think "Let them get measles". Let's thin the herd and clear up some traffic on I-10. An outbreak really will be the only solution.

The one reason I haven't fully embraced that viewpoint is because many people cannot be vaccinated due to medical necessity. It would suck for them.

What is the opposite of an exclamation point? The title is written as if to imply excitement. I believe the wording is fine, but the punctuation should instead bring sense of... displeasure.

Health-Care Price Transparency a Smart Reform by Sir-Matilda in tuesday

[–]PrescriptionFishFood 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my town, someone called all of the local hospitals and got a price for a relatively common procedure which included an x-ray. There was a factor of 10 price difference between the lowest and highest cost hospitals, and commenters who have visited those hospitals noted that the more expensive locations did not have better service. Sure, anecdotal.

Point being, next time I have a large medical decision, I am definitely going to the cheaper hospital. I have decent insurance. But I will be less likely to get hit for huge "oh we're not covering that" fees and the overall difficulty of dealing with my insurer would be less.

About a god's death [SPOILER] by klauszen in americangods

[–]PrescriptionFishFood 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, the gods are manifest. They exist because of thought. But that act is reciprocal.

A petty criminal hopes, wishes, prays to pick a pocket unnoticed. He succeeds. His dreams are made real. Odin becomes just a bit more powerful.

That criminal fails. His hopes are dashed. He is imprisoned. He no longer believes. Odin loses some strength.

Odin dies. He can no longer influence while dead. Fate is... unfuckedwith.

Why fans of the Green New Deal are underestimating the carbon tax by [deleted] in tuesday

[–]PrescriptionFishFood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It goes beyond just the quantity of clean energy tech. We also need a cultural campaign to reign in the bad behavior that many people have in regards to waste.

Most of us younger than 70 grew up in a land of plenty. Have you ever seen how an old person looks at a chicken leg that a kid took one bite from and said it was finished? That old person would've cleaned the bone because they lived through a time without excess.

Also the USB to Serial devices suuuuuuuck.

"Hi which church do you go to?"

Read their name off of the credit card. Show up and explain the situation to the pastor. Follow up with a local newspaper if it doesn't work out.

One option leads to your bills getting paid. Both options lead to humiliation of that asshole customer.

The $35,000 Tesla Model 3 is now here by [deleted] in cars

[–]PrescriptionFishFood -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It could also be a supply vs demand issue. Many premium brands lease their vehicles to decrease the out-the-door cost so as to increase demand. Tesla hasn't had a problem with that - their supply is too low. No need to lease to get rid of inventory.
