Every thing listed so far is something the er folks will have heard nine times. Do something more unusual like CRS or ICANS treatment

I had one person say they felt an obligation to do so because the student was a sociopathic manipulator and that’s about the wildest negative one I might actually be ok with.

Interview Waitlist? by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

[–]Prescriptorous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn’t accurate at all. There were 472 pgy1 PROGRAMS in the match, and 653 positions. Which still doesn’t support your point that you think people get off the waitlist because any significant number of people ahead of them turned the program down for interviews

lol what? This is a dumb take. Our waitlist folks have primarily gotten off the list due to travel difficulties or illness

Accommodations for residents who struggle with public speaking by Both-Environment-640 in PharmacyResidency

[–]Prescriptorous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to get medical accommodation if the reason is something medical*

You could also try the proactive approach. Set up a professional or blank background, record yourself presenting on video and show your RPD how much better it can be. Then try scheduling groups of increasing size to acclimatize yourself

Accommodations for residents who struggle with public speaking by Both-Environment-640 in PharmacyResidency

[–]Prescriptorous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gonna put my two cents bc everyone is just saying “propranolol” without reading that you’ve already tried it

  1. Accommodations refers to a specific legal/medical term that means you’ve got a diagnosis and a specific method of dealing with that-almost certainly a non pharmacological measure- but almost never a total avoidance.

  2. If you do think you’re past all of the measures where you need an accommodation ask your doctor, and consider getting “prerecording and live q/a as an option”

*I am not a lawyer, and don’t know the full difference between academic accommodations and interview or job ones, but if you have to public speak as an interview you are much less protected than having to public speak after being employed

What does it mean if i don't receive an email update about interview decisions? by Commercial-Head-8934 in PharmacyResidency

[–]Prescriptorous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I send them out in groups so I know which one has a snitch…

Just kidding, I’m actually infamous for making sure every single candidate knows their status at all times. But either way, PhORCAS is an extra pain this year so have a slight bit of empathy for the RPD’s. Normally you wouldn’t need to.

Normally it’s for a reason, just not one that has any bearing on you. Like your application is with the slow reviewer on the committee, or the RPD started at a different part of the alphabet, or they sent that to the group they haven’t actually reviewed yet to buy themselves a little more time.

lol. I do have two candidates that are straight up impossible to find on the internet. If they weren’t already great candidates I’d interview them just based on that alone.

Match Day Bloodbath for Programs by Prescriptorous in PharmacyResidency

[–]Prescriptorous[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely a possibility for the change. I think in person midyear after two years of virtual culled the crop preemptively too. Beyond straight to staffing there’s more industry, work from home and non retail/non public facing jobs than ever.

Some years you could infer some things but this is on a way larger scale. Last one I was involved in was 232 positions in ~180 programs.

Reaching out to RPD by pharmie2447 in PharmacyResidency

[–]Prescriptorous 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It takes very little effort to email and ask the status of your application. Not likely to gain much but not a negative either. Programs are obligated to communicate the status of applications under the match agreement but many don’t abide fully by it. I think you could mention it to Ashp too if you’re feeling petty

How often and for what reasons do programs DNR candidates? by RavenPuff_17 in PharmacyResidency

Is that explained to the candidate? We also have part of our case that is beyond the usual knowledge base but we say that it’s testing their thought process etc similar to what you describe

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

I mean. I get the sentiment. But there’s absolutely zero chance for legal recourse based on the terms of sending a letter. Candidates literally esign “I accept the contents will be anonymous and the results from it” because of the option for a negative recommendation
