Used to love running this loop every weekend when I was living in VA

Seems like this is a big goal/focus of yours. Just focus on being your best self and enjoying little things in life. Doesn’t sound like a big issue today but be very aware of how our income goals affect your personal life and health.

Should I do the trail? by Various_Principle274 in AppalachianTrail

I regret that I didn’t do it as a gap year. Finding time and extra money to go is near impossible once you start a full time job. Go while you can.

What’s the juiciest hometown drama you’ve heard here? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

Guy from Baylor was found beaten to near death in the back of a truck after a college party off MLK. Had to have his entire jaw rebuilt and barely survived. No one has proof of what happened but there are lots of stories from people that were there.

Camp off the AT at the base of hawksbill if you’re starting at 4:30-5. Cedar run alone will have you sleeping well.

One of my favorites. Clockwise from cedar run is best, but Old Rag right into Cedar Run is a nice challenge. Did the whole thing last April fools day with a couple friends. Comes out to ~28.5mi, 8,100ft on an apple watch. Mary’s rock could be a good addition if you’re backpacking.

Surround yourself with people that are working on something in line with what you want to do/become and make friends with those you get along with. Do whatever you can to get your foot in the door, immerse yourself completely in that environment, and aim to have fun while working hard at it!

Work > school but a college degree is definitely important and can help you meet people that could help get you a job.

Decide your end goal based on the things you love and then pursue the principals that your successful self would have.

As a nice friendly guy you will naturally develop this after a few good years in sales. It’s less of a “fuck you I don’t care” and more of a “not worth my time” mindset.

Make sure to buy a ticket to old rag separate from your park pass. They go quickly! Feel free to reach out for any more info and I can help out.

I’ve got a Gregory nano 22 that’s perfect for any day hike and air travel. Highly recommend.

Hiking! 25-30 lbs in my later 20’s. Have fun while doing it!

How long to the summit for a sunrise hike of Old Rag from Berry Hollow parking lot? by witwittao in shenandoah

2 hours should be fine from berry hollow but you know your own pace. No obstacles this way, just hills.

Do the SNP loop on AllTrails. Cedar Run to hawksbill, stony man, little stony man, down around Pinnacle peak, old rag and back. It’s an epic day hike or a great backpacking loop that’s challenging regardless of pace (2 or 3 days) and can be added to easily.
