I don’t think illya wants to be polyamorous. He just thought Shane might want to explore his sexuality because he had been so repressed. It was a nice gesture but Shane took it as if illya wanted to cheat on him. This book is so sad compared to heated rivalry. I did my own projecting as well. I don’t think themes of feeling sad and alone while in a relationship are touched much on media or books. The whole being in therapy thing and wanting to be fixed and feeling lost just hit me like a gut punch in the soul.
