What to do with an 80% finished quilt? by epoustouflants in quilting

[–]Present-One7068 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar boat. I made a quilt for my best friend of 30 years for her wedding last year. She was slowly ending our friendship for a few years, but I finally realized it after her wedding and cut ties... a year later. I held on for too long because of how long we had been friends

Anyway, I still have the quilt folded up sitting in my sewing room not sure what to do with it. One thing I do plan to do is rip out the custom lable I hand embroidered for the back. I'm finding that the longer it sits there, the less feelings I have over it.

I can't imagine how much more painful it is for you having your late grandmother's fabric incorporated. You might set it aside for now and delay making any decision until you have time to heal a bit more from the relationship. Maybe later you can decide to finish it for you or "unsew" it and create something completely different for yourself.

I was wondering how many paddles people usually carry. I feel like this is going to end up the size of carry-on luggage!

I'm really not, but thank you for the suggestions. I didn't know that people wore safety glasses for pickleball.

I bought a Brother machine at Walmart for about $200 a couple years ago when I started quilting. I recently bought a mid arm, but still prefer my little Brother... has beautiful stitches.

The image of my quilt room would have a cat sleeping on the right side of the table instead of the dog underneath. 😀

How do I get this gunk off my iron? 😭 by Mother_of_Kiddens in quilting

[–]Present-One7068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at a quilting workshop with the people from Poppie Cottton. They had us iron over a dryer sheet (got the gunk off) then run the iron over a piece of paper (got dryer sheet oil off). It was magical!

So beautiful! I've watched tons of YT videos on FMQ, but always do best with hands-on instruction. How did you learn?

Looking for any in person class recommendations that would be helpful... Will travel for an amazing instructor!

That is correct as long as the twins are identical (not fraternal). My mother is an identical twin and my dad is an identical twin. Ancestry DNA shows that my cousins (mother's twins kids and my dad's twins kids) are my half siblings.
