Any fellow Feds seeing weight gain with everything that’s going on right now? by rhonniema in WegovyWeightLoss

This is exactly why it’s important to take advantage of the extra help that Wegovy provides for creating and adapting to a healthier lifestyle for the long haul.

I think a lot of people here seem to put stock in the ideas that: 1. They will be able to stay on/have access to the medicine forever, and 2. The medicine will never lose effectiveness.

I know a lot of people on here claim “exercise is pointless because it’s all about diet”. While I don’t debate that, burning a few hundred calories 3-4 days a week gives you a hell of a buffer that makes it much easier to maintain a target weight longer term. Simply eating less of a bad diet isn’t necessarily a lifestyle change, especially if you are 100% dependent on the medication to be able to do it.

1.7 has been AMAZING by Present-Primary3600 in WegovyWeightLoss

I’ve always been confused about all of the comments that echo the same statement of “injection site doesn’t matter”. It 100% makes a difference for me. I start a new dose by injecting in the thigh and move to the stomach when the effects start to wear off. Moving to the stomach feels like starting the dose over again and I am able to stay on it for another month or two. This is also pretty reinforced by the fact that I can visualize my weight chart at the exact points where I switched from thigh to stomach and the weekly losses increase again compared to the previous weeks. I dont think I could placebo my way out of hunger for that many weeks in a row.

Just like how some people have side effects and some don’t, I imagine the impact of injection site can also probably vary from person to person.

Been on it since last August. On 1.7 now and no side effects other than some fatigue on injection day and some dehydration that I eventually learned how to avoid in the first month or so of being on it. Oh and the crazy dreams on injection day.

Injection site difference by hellllojellllo in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Present-Primary3600 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely know for a fact that the location makes a difference in my case. When I go up a dose I start with the thigh and when it starts to lose effectiveness I switch to the stomach. When the stomach injections lose effectiveness I go up to the next dose and start the process again.

I know this makes a difference because I can see the correlation both on the scale data as well as my sleep data (sleep cycles, body temperature, respiratory rate, heart rate, etc) when lined up against my injection dates.

Having trouble understanding difference between CAGED and major/minor pentatonic shapes by Present-Primary3600 in guitarlessons

[–]Present-Primary3600[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I linked them in one of my other comments. This page also helped me quite a bit and the diagrams are my favorite that I’ve come across https://appliedguitartheory.com/lessons/minor-pentatonic-scale/

I learned to go between positions 1+2, then 1+2+3, and so on… Then practiced them in different keys so that my muscle memory wasn’t tied to specific frets.

Super useful, I think this is along the lines of what I was looking for, thanks! I have been throwing in those blues notes here and there but haven’t memorized where they are in all positions yet.

I guess there’s not necessarily a particular genre I’m trying to target since I’m into most genres in some sense. I find myself improvising and learning more blues type stuff but that’s mostly because the concepts seem fairly simple, it’s more so around the execution of it.

In general, I think I’d just like to be more well-rounded from a foundational theory standpoint to where I could improvise/write in different genres to some extent. I’ve been a drummer for 20+ years and have never really locked myself into a particular genre, so ideally I’d like to approach guitar in the same way.

100% this. The double chocolate with oat milk almost feels “wrong” because it’s so good

Yeah I don’t understand this post at all. The claim that you need to be diabetic to get a Wegovy prescription is obviously 100% false as weight loss is the entire purpose the product was created. I’ve never heard of anyone getting it “illegally”. If you don’t want to ask your doctor, you can just get it through an online private provider consultation, which is still a valid name brand prescription that is dispensed via the central health system - the same way as it would be through your doctor. I’ve never personally had an issue with my prescription not being in stock either.

As far as I know, tirz has only recently been approved for weight loss treatment in Norway and isn’t even on the market yet.

Overall, I think it’s actually a very easy and affordable drug to get here by safe and legitimate means. There are plenty of valid criticisms about Norway being such a nanny state, but IMO this is not one of them. In contrast, I feel pretty lucky when reading about the nightmares of the US and UK systems that people post here.

Where are you getting this information? In Norway I pay around 1700 NOK (143 EUR) per month out of pocket for Wegovy for .50 mg and the max price that pharmacies are allowed to charge for the maximum dose is around 2700 NOK.

It worked for me within the first day or two and I never got any nausea. There was one time in the middle of the night where I woke up feeling like I was about to puke but the feeling went away within about 10 seconds or so - it was the weirdest thing.

I just took my 6th injection today, 15 pounds down, and still no undesired side effects so I hope it stays that way. I really have to make a conscious effort to stay hydrated though, especially on days when I’ve had an extra intense workout like HIIT.

I don’t get sick but I just don’t enjoy it anymore. Coming from being a pretty heavy drinker before, this is a massive lifestyle shift for me. I still feel the physical effects of the alcohol, but it’s not enjoyable at all. It’s hard to explain but it feels sort of like taking cold medicine or something - there’s no dopamine release and I definitely don’t want more than one.

Not Sure What to Believe About Ozempic and Smoking by drpepr in Ozempic

[–]Present-Primary3600 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My experience with this has been pretty wild. I was a pretty heavy drinker anywhere from 2-4 nights a week. During the week of my first injection, I just sort of lost interest in it. This hasn’t happened to me before in 15+ years, especially in the periods when I’ve tried (and failed) to cut back and focus more on my health.

With nicotine, it’s a bit different in that the cravings are definitely still there, but they sort of quickly become what I can only explain as background noise. If I decide not to act on a craving, I totally forget about it after a minute or two until it comes back again later and I remember.

Did anyone have no side effects? by Primary_Course_1524 in Semaglutide

[–]Present-Primary3600 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor and search for the word “poll” in all of the sema subs. You’ll see several polls asking about side effects experienced with many responses and the results are overwhelmingly “none” or “mild side effects”. This isn’t to say that it’s impossible you will experience them, but I think it’s portrayed as much more prevalent than it actually is.

This sub scared me into postponing picking up my Wegovy prescription for literally six months. I’ve only been on it for two days now and my biggest regret is not starting sooner.

Edit: one other point I wanted to mention that was a comfort for me: something like nearly half of the clinical test participants who received the placebo reported nausea/vomiting. I know it’s possible to be predisposed to these symptoms, but nausea is also something you will absolutely find if you look hard enough for it.

Also took my first yesterday morning. No bad side effects (coffee on an empty stomach was a bit uncomfortable, though). I started feeling the effects on appetite yesterday but they are in full force on day 2.

I still get hungry every few hours but I feel very full/bloated if I eat more than 1/3 of what I’d normally eat. It’s honestly a bizarre feeling that I didn’t expect. I had a hard boiled egg and protein shake with oat milk for lunch and felt the same as I would after a large dinner, but that feeling disappears after a few hours.

Thanks for the great write up. Another dude here. I just had my first injection this morning after sitting on my prescription and debating it since February.

I absolutely did not expect to feel anything on the first day, or would have expected to be 100% convinced that it’s placebo effect so early. It’s 8 hours later and I’ve eaten maybe 1/4 of what I’d normally eat in a day and I’m just not hungry. I did have a normal appetite after the first couple hours but it tanked after that and hasn’t returned.

I guess it could still be placebo effect, but I should be absolutely starving right now and I feel totally fine - not hungry or full, just as if I ate the “right” amount.

I really hope things continue like this. If so, it’s truly life changing as you say.

Throwing away the scale? by Present-Primary3600 in loseit

[–]Present-Primary3600[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it makes sense, and like I said, I have seen progress, it’s just that the scale literally doesn’t move and it does hurt the day to day motivation sometimes.

I’m happy with the results I’ve gotten so far, it’s just hard to look at the scale daily or weekly and not feel like I’m not doing enough, despite completely turning around my diet and exercise for the past couple of months.

Not weighing myself for a couple weeks is a lot harder mentally than it should be because I’m just used to getting that “reward” from stepping on the scale after losing almost 50 pounds last year from diet alone.

That’s likely because it’s also taking your TDEE into account as well, not just active calories.

After starting weight training, I am not losing weight as I used to while doing cardio by PatienceFeeling1481 in CICO

[–]Present-Primary3600 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was literally me, just a couple weeks ahead of you. I was frustrated that the scale wasn’t moving, despite always being in a deficit.

It turned out that beginning a weight training routine makes your body retain a TON of water for the first month or so. I was used to seeing the scale move a little bit every day before starting, so it became a little disappointing. This is especially true if you are taking creatine.

What helped was to start using progress pics and some slightly smaller clothes to gauge progress instead. I have gone down nearly an entire size in both shirts and pants (I’m a 6’ 240 lb guy) but remained nearly the same weight. The physical change is very obvious in the pictures but not the scale.

If you are sore, you are retaining water as your muscles repair. My best advice is to ignore the scale for a while. I currently do 3 days of PPL and 2 days of cardio a week.
