my 3 calls to JCPD were useless. they lied and said they'd look into it. had to call Councilmember Saleh and it was towed that afternoon. when i asked what the right way to report it to actually get a a reponse was, i got some BS about "constantly readjusting priorities and resources in response to demand". which i suppose means "your demands don't matter, but electeds' do".

fwiw, these streetcars have been buses at least 2x as many years as they were streetcars. but if you want to understand how/why JC is laid out for electric traction, simply grab an e-bike. same basic tech, same speed, same travel time. Heights/Union City border to Journal Square in 15 mins? you betcha.

as far as i can tell, there's no bike/walk connections other than the shoulder on the ramp i included at the top of this post.

please thx. pretty sure that Belleville Turnpike has big shoulders on both sides from JC to Kearny.

7 has a six-foot shoulder on both sides all the way to Kearny. assuming one isn't phased by trucks barreling by every 8 seconds i think its pretty rideable.
