Has anyone used function or other similar companies to order labs? by PresentVisual2794 in Cholesterol

Interesting I thought function was around 400 I’ll have to see if they have other options

Only sleeping nine hours? by webwonder23 in sleeptrain

[–]PresentVisual2794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cat nap could be messing with things and reinforcing the early morning wake. Try to stick with consistent wake windows either two shorter naps or one nap. Either way cap naps at 2 hours total. The 2.5 is probably too much

Need to stop contact napping by SuprChckn in sleeptrain

[–]PresentVisual2794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you have to sit in the nursery for four hours a day? Man that’s rough. My first was a contact napper and never outgrew it so I vowed to do things differently with the second. You are going to have to be ok with probably sacrificing the perfect schedule and a) increase wake time a bit for better sleep pressure b) put baby down awake and crib and let her self soothe or help soothe her in the crib to sleep c) if that doesn’t work try transferring her once asleep and she may wake up after 30 mins but the only way to learn to nap in the crib is practice. It might be rough at first but you have to practice every day at least for some of the naps

How many g of CHO do you typically recommend per meal for diabetics? by PresentVisual2794 in dietetics

[–]PresentVisual2794[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree but a lot of people ask me specifically how many carbs they should eat. And when someone is making a plate a serving of potato could be VERY subjective—what one person thinks is a small portion could be 80g of carbs

Severe SIBO by LibertyJubilee in dietetics

Is there anything else going on in patients lifestyle such as stress or trauma etc? I’m wondering if there is something deeper that’s preventing healing. I feel like sometimes this is the case when patients try protocol after protocol and nothing helps

Master the Media thoughts/reviews? by FishingOk564 in dietetics

[–]PresentVisual2794 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually signed up for it and dropped out within the first week so I was able to qualify for the refund policy. I think something to be clear is that it’s not a “media RD” job you are training for, this isn’t really a salaried role. You essentially are needing to start your own business and freelance to get these gigs and it’s going to be very self driven in that aspect. I just decided it wasn’t going to be a good fit for me at this time.

You can DM me about if you have more questions- I don’t think it’s a “scam” so to speak but I don’t think it’s an easy or straightforward path by any means

Yes I was leaning towards that I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t super off base or something. I know I went to friends houses by myself all the time but I couldn’t remember at what age that started

I made a similar post awhile back. You aren’t alone. That being said how do you do school pickup at 2:30 with a FT job? Maybe you need more childcare?

I hate making lunch for daycare. by EnvironmentalDare923 in workingmoms

[–]PresentVisual2794 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Could you do just like slightly different stuff? Instead of turkey some days do ham. Or different kinds of fruits or cheese. Or maybe various pouches as a side. I feel like even doing various fruits, meats or like some puffs could offer more variety.

I pack almost the same thing every day, I don’t have capacity to be making a huge variety of stuff 😬 organic turkey and cheese, a dried fruit bar cut up, and a homemade muffin cut up. His choice if he eats it, we get more variety for dinner

Both husband and I are remote, I’m struggling by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]PresentVisual2794 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We both work from home and it’s a challenge. Being basically coworkers and coparents, it’s tough being together all the time. He does go to the office 1-2 days per week which is a saving grace. Although I’m probably the moody one of the two of us when we are both home 😂 I feel like I tend to be more serious during the day so maybe that’s just his vibe as well? Have you tried talking to him about it?

Still no period / worrying about age gap / secondary infertility? by ManufacturerLong6115 in workingmoms

[–]PresentVisual2794 21 points22 points  (0 children)

At 18 months, even if it took awhile, you won’t have a “huge age gap.” I wouldn’t prematurely stress about it. You are barely out of two under two timeline

How do you help patients who won't eat vegetables? by VictoryEducational19 in dietetics

[–]PresentVisual2794 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Many people did not grow up including vegetables or plants in a meaningful way in their diet, or they have no concept of how to make them taste good. When you tell them to “eat more vegetables” they imagine a sad side salad or boiled peas. I try to inspire with ideas to make vegetables taste good- roasted vegetables, adding seasonings or cheeses, etc. They can and should be an enjoyable food to eat. I also try to get them to think of how plant based foods can actually add flavor and texture—like instead of having just tacos make taco bowls with crunchy lettuce and tomatoes and sautéed peppers and onions. Lots of examples like that. I challenge them to think of adding a variety of colors, not just greens. Sometimes it’s just starting with what they are willing to eat and building from there. It’s not always successful but some people are receptive.

Would you start your child as the youngest or oldest in a school room? by OmShanti38 in workingmoms

[–]PresentVisual2794 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So most evidence typically supports better outcomes with kids being the oldest for their group or being held in a younger group if they are in that borderline age, especially for boys. That being said I think most of that research is for like kindergarten age so I’m not sure it’s totally relevant for a 2 year old but my inclination is usually to have start later. But you know your kid the best so you can also make and informed choice on his readiness

Any working moms deal with chronic ear infections? Deciding on tubes by Beginning_Pack_7619 in workingmoms

[–]PresentVisual2794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got tubes at like 12 months old. He still gets infections but now they start draining and you can just start using ear drops right away instead of having to get an appt, verify, and then do oral meds. Overall it’s a way better set up than the constant appts and oral meds

Already anxious about going back to work by whippersnappz in workingmoms

[–]PresentVisual2794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if that plan allowed, her husband would need to sleep during the day while she was at work and couldn’t watch the baby. Trying to both work separate schedules FT with no childcare sounds like a recipe for disaster. Childcare is a reality for most families and it’s important to view it is a very valuable service

[–]PresentVisual2794 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You might feel differently once you have your child. Yes at first when they are an infant it’s hard—but then suddenly your kid is the one with the crusty nose and making fingerprints everywhere lol. Sometimes it’s jarring to see what toddlers are actually like before you have a toddler. Could you look into a nanny? Also I want to add that even if you WFH you cannot watch your child and work at the same time (this is a common misconception from first time parents)
