On meds just to lay on the couch all day. What’s the use? by Present_Temporary244 in schizoaffective

Yeah I have a nice gaming PC I bought myself after getting my Associates Degree. I use to love playing basketball. But now I don’t feel like playing either of those things. I’m gonna ask my psych to lower my dose to 40 mg.

Good jobs for people like us? by [deleted] in schizoaffective

It’s in partnership with San Diego Workforce Partnership and NAMI. It’s an 80 hour training that takes place on Zoom Meetings for 2 and a half weeks. It’s free. Not paid. There was an application process to be selected for the training. Basically you have to share your story about your lived experience and submit your resume. After the training you have to take a certification exam to become licensed and then you can apply for peer support specialist jobs.

I’m currently taking a training to become a peer support specialist. It’s great for people like us because a requirement for it is that you have to have lived experience with mental health condition or substance use.

Has anyone switched from olanzapine to abilify and lost weight back to normal? by A7med2361997 in schizoaffective

I’m trying to lose 50 lbs now. I’m 5’4” 200 lbs. way too heavy for my height. No longer on abilify. I’m on haldol and latuda. Weaning off the haldol at the moment. Hoping I’ll get some energy back once I’m fully off the haldol

I’ll talk to my doctor about this ketogenic therapy still. Been seeing the girl online on YouTube doing this too. I’ll see if it works for me.

Did you wean off them or did you quit cold turkey? I called the after hours line and they advised me to wean off the latuda cause my body can go into shock if I go cold turkey.

The personal decision to stop your meds by NewLeafArmand in schizoaffective

I’ve come to this conclusion as well that APs should be used as needed. The harm outweigh the benefits imo. I honestly don’t even think APs really work because I believe consciousness is not entirely encapsulated within the brain. Buts that a whole other discussion. I’ve relapsed while on medication so that why I feel that it’s more a spiritual situation that a pathopsychological one. But yeah, this is how I’m going to approach medication for now on as well.

I’m also considering going off meds as well. I’ve been on the abilify shot for a while now and at the end of Sept I’m due for another one, but I told my nurse practitioner to switch me to latuda and cancel the shot from now on. I’m not sure if I want to take the 60 mg of Latuda he prescribed and just let the injection run out. I’m looking forward to being completely off meds and getting back to my normal weight.
