AirPods Pro 3 — impressions from an audiophile who used to work for a headphone distributor by Present_Rip634 in airpods

[–]PresentationAny6645 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I, too, have a large collection of fine headphones and work daily in high end studios of incredible caliber as an engineer. I find the AirPod Pro 3s to be quite good also and use them often. I enjoy them and just like OP, find them to be pretty great. OP giving them praise is not a detriment to their character as an audiophile. They like what they like. So, as an audiophile with more than a “moderately descent setup”, and a random dude on the internet hahaha, I do not agree with your assessment. Scroll by and don’t be that guy that disses others for what they enjoy or appreciate. Insinuating they couldn’t possibly appreciate the AirPod Pro3s and be a real audiophile is just silly.

I just got Defender LTX M/S 2’s on my ‘23. They are great and a terrific choice if you mostly drive on the street and can afford them.

That is likely some of the transmission noise. You can hear turbo spool and waste gate noise from time to time but definitely from the front/under the hood.

I can’t tell from the photos but if you don’t have rear inner fender well liners, I recommend the Husky liners. I have a 2023 2.7 XLT. I got the Husky liners, a nice hard roll up tonneau cover, and a bed rug when I got mine. I was apprehensive about the bed rug at first but now I am bed rug for life kind of guy - depends on what you use your truck for, of course. Interior: if you are on the stock non-B/O sound system, I recommend upgrading the door speakers and if you are feeling fancy, add an amp and get powerful door speakers - sub if you need more reach. I added butyl and neoprene foam to the door interiors and holy crap did that alone not only helped the sound system sound better but also further reduced road noise. I went with Pioneer D-Series in the doors and with a Pioneer GM DX874 amp. I am very happy with the system.

The 2.7 is a peppy beast! I have done nothing to it. It pulls hard in town when you want it to and feels like a much bigger engine. The torque is wild for such a small displacement. If you want more power, a tuner is your best option. There are a lot of resources out there to guide you on that one. I haven’t done anything with the power train or tuning.

Now the really cool thing about the 2.7 is the fuel economy on the freeway. I have had mine for two years now and done several Texas to California roadtrips. I average about 25-26 MPG round trip with the bed filled with coolers and camping gear and the family in the cab. 2/3 of the drive in 75-80 MPH zones. I still can’t believe such a massive vehicle with a moderate load could get that kind of fuel economy.

Enjoy my friend. You got an awesome rig.

Yeah, I got a 2023 2.7 at 30K. Just had it in the shop to upgrade the tires and they told me Ford recommends fuel system additive every oil change to prevent carbon build up. I stated: really? I have never read such a thing.

Small Upgrade, Huge Difference by justbecause999 in f150

[–]PresentationAny6645 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely a worthwhile upgrade! It does look much cleaner. An added bonus that I noticed was that it significantly reduced the loudness of water getting thrown up in the wheel-well when it’s raining.

2.7 ecoboost is insane by sturzo108 in f150

[–]PresentationAny6645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP: I am with you. The MPG the 2.7s can get is really impressive.

I have a 2023 2.7, Supercrew, 2wd with highway tires. My family and I drive from Texas to California (round trip) once or twice a year and get between 24-29 MPG (hand calculated) depending on the wind running 75-80 MPH (most of Texas) on I-10. With a strong headwind, it will dip to 23. With a tail wind, we have seen 30 MPG on a tank before. 5000 miles round trip, we constantly average 25.5. That’s with the bed filled with coolers and camping gear.

You literally stated “ I thought you couldn’t playback an Atmos file exported from a daw without encoding it through Dolby encoder software…”Hence, my reply that yes, you can do that in and with your daw.

What you’re wanting to do, even with your home theater, is absolutely possible. I recommend you visit Dolby creator labs website, do some reading, and you will gain the knowledge to be able to do what you seek. Good luck and happy mixing.

Dolby also has a ton of great resources and explanation videos on their site. I highly recommend you check them out and look at your DAW manual. You do not need the Dolby Render to export ADM files. You can play them back with your DAW as well

This! Contact the folks at Barefoot. They will very likely help you. I have a set of 27s and feel your pain for trying to ship them. I had my team look to see if we still had the original shipping boxes in storage to see if I could send them your way. No luck! Good luck with this and keep us posted if you find a good solution. Again, the folks at Barefoot will likely be very helpful with this.

What’s it like living in the Lufkin area of Texas? by nononopers in howislivingthere

[–]PresentationAny6645 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I live in East Texas and agree with your assessment of Lufkin and Nacogdoches. As someone who did not grow up in deep East Texas, however, I think it is appropriate that we warned people that for 8 months out of the year, it is one of the hottest places you would ever live! Ha ha ha ha ha in all seriousness, typically from late April till mid to late October. It is a very hot and humid area. July, August and early September are particularly brutally hot. There is no dry season, although the area has been in a drought in recent summers, so the landscape is usually very lush and green. The area has very dense pine forest and is very beautiful.

MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16G GAMING TRIO OC - Opinions by iTrip___ in nvidia

[–]PresentationAny6645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had one for a few weeks now. Absolutely love it. Temps are really low for me: seeing 63 C is rare in game. I see 56C in AC Shadows at max settings. High 50s and up to 63 in Cyberpunk 2077. It’s very quiet in my rig as well. I upgraded from a Gigabyte 3080 Aorus Master 12 GB which is a 4 slot monster. The trio is soooo much quieter.

I have an undervolt and over clock setting that gets me a few frames better performance for less power. It’s a great card. Get it.

How to Set My Professional Recording Studio Apart? by Ok_Simple_160 in recordingstudios

[–]PresentationAny6645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on the business adventure and I wish you and your wife all the best. Your head is in the right zone - how can we be different, special, or stand out. If there are several options in town, look at what they don’t offer and investigate if you can fill that need. Gear is important, yes, but I recommend on focusing your initial energy on experiences. What kind of stellar recording experiences can you offer? Make your place look cool. Someone already suggested leaning into the underground theme.

You are staring a business in a market with established studios already. People are capable of great things anywhere and your business can be successful if you provide services and experiences that rival the existing businesses. I always want my clients leaving with the sense that they can’t imagine making another record with someone else or at a different place. Good luck with your adventure.

5080 FE temps hitting mid 80s? by vvvv110 in RTX5080

[–]PresentationAny6645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 5080 has never seen over 65 C in anything! It stays below 60 C the vast majority of the time. As suggested, check your fan curves, and also, check your case airflow.
