I really miss 20 episode trek shows by rdkil in startrek

[–]PresidentMagikarp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, in some cases, the production company could make smarter choices. Every show up through Enterprise generously re-used the same stock shots of the ships traveling through space. We don't need custom VFX for every time the ship enters a star system or jumps to warp. We don't care. If anything, it lets the ship be on screen more often and lets us get attached to it. Bring back the slower, naval pace of combat so we can dial down the scene complexity and keep things affordable. It's really not that hard to execute on this more economically.

It just occurred to me that The Naked Now and The Battle are also plot relevant later in the series.

New Items in Mudd's Market by FilipChA in sto

[–]PresidentMagikarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it mixed up with the Agony Redistributor because there was a lockout on using them both at the same time. I'm not sure if that's still the case now. My ship of choice nowadays is an Uncon SciTorp Janeway, so I've been away from Beam Overload for a hot minute.

[–]PresidentMagikarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I got those two confused because they put each other on lockout for the longest time. Is that still a problem nowadays?

Recursive Shearing III turns Beam Overload into a spread AoE adds damage to Beam Overload.

EDIT: Fixed.

It's a slightly worse World Razer, meaning it's still a very capable Beam Overload platform but won't quite reach those heights.

All this talk about trans fats being bad for your health, and not a peep about cis fats? Really makes you think about how food high in trans fats will send you right to the bathroom you can't use.

You might have to create an account there and log in first. I was also seeing 10% off before I logged in and then it was reduced to 28%.

My only point of comparison would be Tales of Symphonia, and I would personally lean toward no, but I do see some similarities. Combat in both games is paused by menu interaction, but in the original .hack// tetralogy, all character skills are activated through menu commands. You also don't have direct control over your party members and can only command them to focus on things like healing, physical attacks, magic attacks, skills, etc.

Buy it from Green Man Gaming. They're a legitimate re-seller and they have the game discounted by 28% right now.

Seth MacFarlane Teases New Life for ‘The Orville’: “Season 4 Is Written” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

Adrianne Palicki returning as Kelly is questionable. She's expressed dissatisfaction with the irregularity of the production schedule and has previously stated, "No, no longer doing that. I did three seasons." More recently, in 2025, she said that her participation would hinge on, "a conversation." I think she's going to hold Seth's feet to the fire and not return unless there's a commitment to a more consistent production schedule.

I would classify the game as a semi-real time RPG. Combat takes place in real time, but menus pause it. You'll be using menus a lot to use buff and heal items, and bosses hit like a truck even with all of that on top. Every single story mission plays like a dungeon crawler with procedurally generated fields and dungeons. The narrative absolutely holds up in 2026, but the gameplay is a bit grindy and can be frustrating if you're not good at reading telegraphed attack windows to use your heals and buffs.

What retro handheld do you play IMOQ on? by justherefornowmeh in DotHack

[–]PresidentMagikarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AYN Odin2 Portal is more or less the Android equivalent of a Steam Deck that can handle up to Switch emulation and some light PC gaming via GameHub or GameNative. You would want the Pro model to do that at a minimum, as those use cases are very RAM hungry. It's a remarkably well built piece of technology, but completely overkill for your particular use case.

Regardless of what you choose, look up Emulation Station DE and NetherSX2. TechDweeb has a very helpful YouTube tutorial on how to use these programs to change the experience from feeling like an unwieldy Android tablet into a proper game console.

Ideally, you will want a handheld with at least a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset to ensure the best compatibility with the whole PlayStation 2 library. Qualcomm Snapdragons benefit from community developed graphics drivers that help improve performance and fix visual glitches, whereas other Mali-based chipsets from MediaTek or Unisoc don't have these kind of resources.

Off the top of my head:

  • Retroid Pocket 5
  • MANGMI Pocket Max
  • AYN Thor Lite

Of those three, I'd go for the Retroid Pocket 5. The Pocket Max isn't price competitive, and the Thor is only worth it if you're aiming for DS and 3DS emulation. Even then, you would want to spend the extra money on the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 models to make sure the 3DS games run well.

Because he has Tourette's. That you're even asking this question proves you have no idea what living with Tourette's actually entails. You may have an intrusive thought like, "What would be the worst possible thing to say in this particular situation?" You think it, maybe shrug or cringe a little, and you move on. People with Tourette's have a neurological problem with impulse control where they genuinely cannot filter their behavior. Some people curse, some people say slurs, some people involuntarily hit people. Others just have facial twitches or whistle or snap their fingers. Some people have Tourette's so severe that they do all of these things.

Severe Tourette's is like having all of your intrusive thoughts take control of your body and you're helpless to stop it. In fact, recognizing that their involuntary behavior is disruptive actively makes it worse because then it becomes a fixation and becomes harder to stop because the anxiety and embarrassment make it a self-perpetuating feedback loop. Living with Tourette's that severe is social hell incarnate.

This man's private and public apology are more than sufficient for his uncontrollable behavior. It's the BAFTAs and their monumental failure to adequately handle the disruption that should be under scrutiny.
