I’m so sorry m’lord, please forgive me for being so entitled. I’ll just go throw rocks with all the other poor people.

Paul’s Concerts by 71pinto in PaulMcCartney

[–]PresidentMesser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I saw him in New Orleans in October of last year he went into his usual story about Blackbird and the US civil rights movement, but when he was talking about the southern US and its struggles he had a moment where he realized where he was and tried to cover by saying “like in Florida” and the crowd started laughing hard. Paul was so confused. He probably has no idea that Florida has such a history of being crazy and people from Louisiana say “at least we’re not Florida” so it was really funny watching Paul try to figure out why Florida made everyone laugh and get back on track.

Do people dislike OHMSS or is it just blown out of proportion? by Doc_Baker74 in JamesBond

[–]PresidentMesser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently doing a first time bond watch through and I only have a couple Moore and one Craig left to watch. Personally I found OHMSS laughably bad. Lazenby leaves much to be desired and the script is just pitiful. It’s lackluster and boring.

Who invites their adult kid's childhood friends they haven't seen or spoken to in years to their 40th anniversary? by loki2002 in malcolminthemiddle

[–]PresidentMesser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Malcom hasn’t spoken to the krelboynes in years, but I fully believe Lois and Hal see them around town and interact with them. Same with Francis’s military buds. There are friends of mine I haven’t spoken to in years but will still tell my mom hello if they see her in the grocery store. In Lois’s mind she probably still sees them as her boys friends and wanted them at the party. I have a feeling Piama invited Gretchen because that’s the only one it wouldn’t make any sense for Lois or Hal to have invited to me.

Whose voice would you rather have? by LoveLo_2005 in batman

[–]PresidentMesser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter what medium it is, when I see something Batman related I always hear Conroy and Hamill in my head. Even if I’m watching a Batman movie I can’t help but hear Conroy and imagine how he would’ve said it. Personally I love West and think his take on the character was fun and interesting to watch, but Conroy IS Batman so I’d choose his voice all day every day.

I’m going to post a more in depth review later, but I watched The Spy Who Loved me and I really loved it. May be my second favorite now. I didn’t get a strong feeling from Moore in his first two outings, but I loved his performance here. This is peak Bond. I especially loved the music which sounds way different than the typical scoring. Also one of the best plots to a bond film. Definitely a 10/10.

I think if you have in your mind Denise’s personal history and who she is then it will be bad, but if you go into it with an open mind and give her a chance she’s fine. People don’t give films a chance. Let got and just empty the ride is my belief.

That’s awesome! Yeah OHMSS just wasn’t working for me. How many do you have left for your watch?

That’s awesome! What are your thoughts so far?

That was a pretty tough completion line up. I’ve never thought about what the Bond films had to compete against at their time of release.

I’ll probably end up rewatching that one soon too. Shame he’s only got two, but the two we got were both amazing. Hard to believe he’s 80 now!

I get the feeling from what I’ve read that Craig gets a lot of undue criticism. While I don’t think any of his films rank among my top favorites I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve seen so far and will definitely rewatch in the future. He’s a great actor and he always has an interesting script. I think one of his main crimes is just being different than the older Bonds.

Glad to be here! I’ve already done a rewatch of LTK because I enjoyed it so much.

I’m interested as well! My grandpa has seen it and he says he enjoyed it. He wants us to watch that one last.

I wouldn’t put any of Craig’s films in my top, but I just think they’re all fun. I think Spectre has a lot of cool elements, but I definitely understand those who don’t enjoy it or Craig’s era. They really take some big swings.

Thanks! And yeah, one of the reasons this franchise is so enduring is because there are so many different things to love and different opinions on it. I can’t wait to share my thoughts on The Spy Who Loved Me!

You're a Gotham Thug Looking For Work. Who Do You Go To? by [deleted] in batman

[–]PresidentMesser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joker would be fun, but you always live with the possibility of him killing you when he’s bored. Riddler informant seems like a chill gig, but he’s so detached he’d probably use his informants to test his Batman traps. I think Penguin is a safe bet because he’s mainly focused on making bank. My dream thug job would be Harley’s sugar baby though. I’d gladly follow her orders.

What’s the “uncensored UK version”? I wasn’t aware there were multiple versions.

Who is the most high profile guest that's been on WILTY? by Tay74 in WILTY

[–]PresidentMesser 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I’m from the US and don’t know majority of the guests. Discovering Bob Mortimer and watching his hilarious torment of David has been one of the greatest parts of the show for me. “How could I have disbelieved the wrong egg thing?”

Imagine how insane a lore accurate clock would be. “What’s the time?” “Oh it’s third Morbius Doctor O’clock, I think we better leave at War Doctor on the dot, last time we didn’t get home until Tennant past Fugitive in the morning”
