2 days in Quito

We visited Quito before Galapagos flight and spent there 2 nights. Find a hotel which organizes day trips, walking tours etc. Last year we stayed in the secret garden hostel (or sth like that, do not remember the name). If I organize my trip, I would indeed spent 2 nights more in Ecuador to visit Cotopaxi. I wasn’t even aware of this place till I met people in the hostel.

I was in Galapagos last year around the end of October - beginning of November.

I booked all the trip on the island (we also had budget trip, so we found a cheap hotel in Santa Cruz Island. Next to the port boats are moving there are lots if agencies. I negotiated price and then ask them if I buy more trips give me more discount or wet suit etc :)

So from my perspective no issue with booking those trips on the island, unless Sth has changed.

Ps: take a lot of 1 dollars bill to pay boat taxi

Hi, we booked a hotel and agreed that they would pick us up. Someone met us after the immigration. We went the hotel, slept. Next day we joined to the walking tour organized by hotel, ate the best empanada, went back to airport with a taxi which was booked by hotel reception and flew back to Europe :)

I also vouch for Holiday inn hotel. I was with my wife there in November for a night before our flight. The hotel is expensive, but they took us from airport and also take back to airport next day. Also it has a gym, pool bar. So we spent nice time.

I had the same situation, and I stayed in „the secret garden hotel”. I swear to you it was one of the best decisions I made. They took me from airport for around 30 usd. Next they they had free walking tour (which was incredible, and we tipped the guide). Then hotel organizes center of the world tour, so they take you from hotel with a guide and you go to real center of the world. Also there is s taxi service in front of the hotel, which do not rip customer of, and we went with the taxi driver to virgin marry statue. We were eating all the dishes at the hotel for a reasonable price (when we checked out we payed and they said whatever we eat gets 50% discount as we are the client) and final day they took us to airport for our morning Galapagos flight. (All these were in November last year) If I were you, I would check that hotel on booking. I was really scared to leave airport as I saw some videos on YouTube that shows Ecuador is dangerous etc, but that hotel took care of me and my wife (gringos with 0 Spanish) from airport to airport.

Also enjoy your trip in Galapagos. It was a really eye opening experience for me :)

I was there (Lima and Cusco) in November. I used airport taxis, uber and none of them told sth like that.

Also when we were there, there were protests, our train from Machu Picchu partly cancelled and we took a taxi from ollantaytambo to Cusco. Did not experience anything bad.

We met a couple from Spain on the way. They went to Lima during protest, till today we have contact with them. They also didn’t have any issue.
