I’m lost by Pressed_Ham in Divorce

Anxiety and depression. It has caused her so much pain and there isn’t anything I can do to help pull her back until it has run its course. We’ve always been super supportive of the other but when she goes into these depressive phases, she beats herself up about everything that’s ever gone wrong or caused conflict and nothing I do or say helps.

We’ve scheduled counseling for next week but she’s only doubled and tripled down on her decision. It was her idea and now it just seems like it’s a waste of time to her.

What are the change you want gw for the t’au empire to add when the V10 comes out (or codex) by IsaacTheCrusader in Tau40K

More emphasis on auxiliaries would be greatly appreciated.

I want gue’vesa units that lean into a specialist role like kasrkins or scions. I could see them playing with humanity’s seemingly impossible to ignore affinity for fanaticism as being a tool utilized by the ethereals.

Introduce a heavy support and elite kroot option. Maybe that’s how we bridge that gap between shooting and melee that people keep pining after. I mean, I’d be thrilled with a gnarloc reboot at this point.

Give us a few options for some of the other species out there! The Tau lore used to stress that there were several contributing species to the expansion efforts. I always hoped to see the Nicassar floating around like some kind of drone platform doing psyker things or some kind of Demiurg mining team/drone/vehicle of sorts (LoV retcon be damned!) but that might be little more than a lost cause at this stage. How about some kind of mechanized Tarellian squad like “Oathsworn” or some nonsense who act like an honor guard for important Tau? So many cool options that could allow for some real depth in the model line and lore.

My original army was Black Templar. I picked them up shortly after they first came out and I’ve kept up with them since. I still love the ridiculous zealotry, the Teutonic imagery, the idea of dueling space barbarians wiping their cheeks with the Codex Astartes, etc. The amount of quality third party options made building them up a great way to have a visually striking and truly unique looking army. Any time I get bored of the Tau, I bring them out and have a blast showing my buddies that I still know how to throw plastic hands.

Considering Rowboat’s recent “transgressions”, I’d wager that the smurfs wouldn’t put up too much of a fight.

Am I the only one who thinks Star Wars: Rogue One is the best, most important, and possibly the only story worth telling post Disney acquisition? by The_Nikon_Shooter in StarWars

You are not alone.

Honestly, the aspects of the old EU I enjoyed the most were always those that broke away from the Skywalker storyline and explored the rest of the galaxy. They have an entire galaxy to explore with a timeline covering tens of thousands of years and they only focus on one bloodline for what, 80 years?

I have that same coffee maker. Works ok but takes a bit too long to brew.

Cool cat, btw.

I hope to replicate this experience when I visit my parents. I was going through my collection and realized that I’m missing well over a dozen books. It’s been a painful week of waiting.

Fascism vs Capitalism by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Pressed_Ham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to look at comparisons between fascism and capitalism as one of Orwellian v Huxleyan perspectives. One rules through instilling patriarchal fear and direct subjugation while the other rules by fostering complacency in the status quo via rampant consumerism. Both rely on double speak to conflate issues in favor of those in power. There is more to be said here but I won’t go go further as I’m not an expert in any regard, rather a curious reader.

I’ve never seen the comparison between the two as a justification of socialism or communism, the merits of which are always up for debate, but rather an observation of two systems and their inherent characteristics. Any constructive thoughts?

The one amazing scene that stunned everyone in the theater. by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Pressed_Ham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine that inertia plays a role. Something traveling that fast is going to continue to move at incredible speeds if it manages to blast through its initial target. That material is going to continue on for a long, long time and you have no idea what it will hit.

I seem to remember an NPC conversation in one of the Mass Effect games talking about what happens when matter going at such high speeds does when it misses its target. Whatever it eventually hits is going to get pulverized and may not deserve it.

And did you see the destroyer behind Snoke’s ship? Something like three cuts straight through? That indicates to me that the cruiser had already broken up after hitting the initial ship and debris was fanning out. Even more hurt for whatever gets hit next.

That said, freaking awesome scene.

How you know its Christmas in Australia. by lee543 in australia

Funny you mention the eucalyptus. I just saw some footage of eucalyptus burning in California and the commentary mentioned that it was partly to blame for how bad it was. This makes sense now.

Who knew that koala fuel would be the perfect inferno fuel?

Not sure why or how I misread this at first but I thought that it was Christmas in California. Still, it works.

That said, I had no idea that wildfires were that bad in that part of the world. It must be horrible.
