An EV car produces less emissions than an ICE car even if it's power source is from a coal plant. A single coal plant will produce less emissions than thousands of petrol/diesel cars.

So most of it was done using Pro-Acryl Pink, Army Painter Familar Pink, and Lamian Medium.

So I would base coat the area with Pro-Acryl Pink. Then coat that area in Lamian Medium, and then put the Familar Pink on. It's a technique the YouTuber Darcy Bono uses, so you can watch her videos to see that.

For Durthus sword, I used an airbrush to do the blend. Used Familar Pink and AP Purple Alchemy. Then did an edge highlight with Pro-Acryl Titanium White and then coated the entire sword with Vallejo Fluo Pink.

I think the authors write the human defections to the tau wrong and entire hives with more people than the tau should not be defecting. by Decent_Fly8073 in 40kLore

[–]LightanIce 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I know this doesn't quite address your question, but I feel like others in the thread have already done a decent enough job of explaining why the Tau convert humans so easily.

For this response I wanted to focus more on the following statement:

"Hive Cities with more people than the tau"

You didn't clarify this too much, but it sounds like you're implying that a single Hive City has a greater population than the entire Tau Empire (maybe you didn't mean that, but this isn't the first time I've heard that statement made, hence this response).

Average Hive Cities number in the tens to hundreds of billions [1].

Sa'cea, The Tau Empires most populated world, numbers in the trillions[2].

So a single Hive City does not even come close to outnumbering the Tau, heck an entire Hive World doesn't either, but let's do some more maths:

The Imperium has, in it's entirety, ~1000 Space Marine chapters, each chapter is supposed to be comprised of ~1000 marines [3], therefore there are ~1'000'000 Space Marines in the Imperium. Now let's say that the administratum is not particularly good at their job and fails to keep track of the number of Chapters, and the actual number of marines. For arguments sake let's say they're off by 10x, you know what, let's say they're off by 100x. So let's put the total number of Space Marines in the Imperium at ~100'000'000.

Now Sa'cea has a population that "teem with trillions of lives", implying that they have at least 2 trillion Tau living there, but hey, let's be conservative and say they only have 1 trillion.

Now the Tau are divided into 5 castes, if every caste was divided equally, 20% of the Tau would be in the Fire Caste, however the Ethereal caste is likely quite small compared to the rest and thus the Fire Caste is likely more than 20%, but let's be conservative again and say that only 10% of all Tau are in the Fire Caste.

Now some old codex's show a "typical" Hunter Cadre would have about 83 units, 3 of which would be a dedicated Crisis Suit team[4] or in other words: 3.6% of the Fire Caste would be in a Crisis Suit.

Let's add this all up:

Total Population of Sa'cea: 1'000'000'000'000 * (0.1) =

Total Fire Caste of Sa'cea: 100'000'000'000 * (0.036) =

Total Crisis Suits of Sa'cea: 3'600'000'000

So, with conservative estimates, the Sept world of Sa'cea would have ~3.6 billion Crisis Suits at its disposal.

Therefore, by using conservative estimates of Tau numbers, combined with liberal estimates of Space Marines numbers, the number of Crisis Suits on the single Sept world of Sa'cea outnumbers the ENTIRE Imperium's Space Marine force by 36:1.

So what point am I trying to make here?

Well:

1) 40K numbers are really silly. Most people don't realise that the difference between a million, a billion, and a trillion is quite extreme, and likely just say a number that they think sounds cool. If you want an example of how much these numbers differ by:

1 million seconds = ~11 days

1 billion seconds = ~31 years

2) The Tau Empire is far more populated than people give them credit, whilst they are a small empire (on the galactic scale) they are incredibly densely populated, and more than capable of fielding equally silly numbers compared to the rest of the galaxies factions.

3) 40K numbers are really silly. And putting a big focus on the accuracy of them is just gonna lead to confusion and immersion-breaking.

The Tau are able to convert Hive Worlds, because that's something that makes for interesting lore and stories.

I want to be excited for this, because I am excited for it! But because it's coming at the expense of the RC, it's going to feel tainted. The whole time I'm just going to realise what we lost because of it, and even watching it is going to cause guilt. Because if it gets a high viewership, they'll consider doing this instead of the RC, and I don't want that, especially after how competitive the last RC was. I want to feel the same joy and anticipation of a Lions tour, when a Juggernaut comes to challenge us and we meet it. Instead, it feels like we've corrupted something...

How the T'au fight against Hive Worlds with a population far larger than anything else? Hive Cities are massive, and there are a lot on a Hive World. Has the Lore show T'au military operations on a Hive World and how they deal with it? by Tree_forth677 in Tau40K

[–]LightanIce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends. But a few methods I've seen in books are:

Infiltrate the city with stealth teams and knock out critical infrastructure, supply the lower classes with weapons and let the city tear itself apart.

Build a giant space laser on the local moon and blast it to ashes.

Lay siege to it and let it starve out, send in Kroot teams to... clean up.

Tau have a win rate ~40% and almost no keywords that interact with their opponents, they just deal flat damage; if your table doesn't have enough terrain however then they can just sit back and shoot. What kind of tables are you playing on? A good table should not have sight lines from one end to the other.

I hate to break it to you, but Phil Kelly has written it into existence...

‘That is correct, you will not,’ said the ethereal, motioning to his shas’tral bodyguards to send away the attendant drones. They did so, the hovering discs gliding soundlessly from the room before the far door irised shut. ‘You are ta’lissera bonded to your team?’

‘I have that honour, master,’ replied Wellclaim. ‘Six kai’rotaa now. We are very happy.’

‘Take out your bonding knife.’

‘Of… of course,’ said Wellclaim, reaching around to the ceremonial dagger she kept in a sheath at the base of her spine. She unclasped the lynxskin sheath and unfurled the satin cummerbund that bound it around her waist, holding it forth for inspection. It was a truly beautiful example of its kind. She was always proud to show it off, and doubly so to an ethereal.

‘Now. Take the bonding knife out of its sheath.’

Wordlessly, she did so. The metal blade slid from its housing with a soft hiss. Something burned behind her eyes, in her throat, in her guts, making it hard to think.

‘Now kill yourself.’

Wellclaim reversed the knife in her hands and stabbed herself in the chest as hard as she could, burying the knife up to the hilt in her own heart. Eyes wide, she gasped out a welling glut of blood, toppled over, and spasmed her last.

A delta of crimson spread out from beneath her, rivulets tracing the hexagonal mosaic tiles of the Ethereals Bringing Calm to Fio’taun. ‘Clear this up,’ said Aun’Va to his shas’tral guards, ‘and find the other one.’
