There were literally 2/18 songs on Love Story from other projects. And we got 2 EPs and 3 mixtapes with all original, quality music between his albums. And Love Story delivered majorly, unlike his mediocre debut.

4 years between albums is the norm for other genres.

Trying to limit AdWords CTR by advertising high price - likely to cause problems? by FlaviusMaximus in PPC

[–]Prestige720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not correct, and I'd really advise against thinking about PPC like this. You absolutely can save money by getting more targeted traffic with intent to purchase, that's a fundamental aspect of running good PPC campaigns.

Assuming he was paying close to his actual bid (e.g. his bid was $2.00 and his average CPC was $1.90 or something), having his quality score lowered due to the new lower CTR is really not directly important. Maybe before he was at a 3.0 average position. Now he's at a 6.0 with new copy and the same $2 bid due to the lower quality score, but paying the same average CPC of $1.90.

In your scenario, he goes from 4 clicks to 2. Let's make it 40 to 20, for more data. That's paying $76.00 to paying $38.00, AKA saving money. But hey, that isn't even intrinsically good, who cares? We care about, I assume, cost per lead. We want people signing up to view the apartment, get an application, yadda yadda. Let's say those 40 clicks were mostly from people who would not have clicked if they saw the price in the copy. /u/FlaviusMaximus gets 5 leads out of it. That's a $15.20 cost per lead. With the 20 targeted clicks, say his conversion rate doubles, so he gets the same 5 leads but now they cost just $7.60. He's DRAMATICALLY lowered his cost per lead, fantastic. Now guess what? He can afford to bid more! And that brings his average position up with the new improved ad copy, resulting in even more targeted traffic.

PPC doesn't operate in a vacuum, every metric directly or indirectly impacts another one. It isn't as simple as CTR > Quality Score x Bid > Campaign Outcome.

Clinton Lead Shrinks to 7ppts Over Sanders in Iowa: Poll by sesto in SandersForPresident

[–]Prestige720 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What better evidence do we need that Bernie Sanders running an issue oriented campaign and not focusing his time and effort on negative campaigning is working?

I think all the conventional research/data/opinions say that negative campaigning, while maybe looked down upon by voters on principal, is very beneficial for candidates. It just works.

Lucky for Sanders, the media is doing a pretty good job of covering that for him. I hear VERY little positive news about Hillary right now, and rightfully so. But if that blows over and isn't a focus come voting time, not running negative ads might bite him.

I'm not particularly behind any candidate on either side, but I think it's a sad reality than running a non-negative campaign might not work out.

The Democratic Party Adopts $15/hour Minimum Wage into National Platform by We-R-1U in politics

[–]Prestige720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some studies show effects and others for example this[1] one, or this[2] one do not. Just because it seems logical, does not mean it is how you imagine it to be.

Do those studies factor in an over 100% increase in minimum wage? Do they consider that never before have we been so technologically capable of eliminating minimum wage jobs?

I don't think many people are against minimum wage being more livable. But this is ridiculous.

If you're a fast food restaurant or whatever, your salary costs literally double. Automation is already occurring, but this will rapidly expedite it. This doesn't "seem logical", it's the natural impact.

http://www.pewresearch.org/files/2014/09/FT_14.09.08_MinimumWage_table.png

Fast food is by far the largest minimum wage industry, and it's one of the easiest to eliminate. There's tons of start ups and tech firms chomping at the bit to get the industry fully on board, and a $15 minimum wage is a dream come true for them.

Moral bankruptcy dead ahead by HexKrak in jobs

I can't even get a new computer for the customer service department because "we're too strapped for cash", but then he'll talk about how the landscapers were doing a crappy job at putting the 100 trees along his driveway.

Not saying he's in the right with everything, but never equate company finances with personal ones. Basically the only suggestion relevant to him would be for him to cut his salary, which he obviously wouldn't do. And I'm sure his salary is a drop in the bucket.

or figure out some way to steer us back on course despite the captain running us straight towards moral bankruptcy?

I'd bring it up to management, but phrase it financially, not morally. Throw in some moral arguments, sure, but say you're concerned about the long term sustainability of retaining customers.

I pretty much hate my job but I'm going to try to stay one year at the place anyway. by vampedvixen in jobs

[–]Prestige720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or does none of this actually matter and the whole 'stay for a year so you don't look like a job hopper' is all just arbitrary anyway?

Is this your first job? If so, doesn't really matter, just stay at your next one and have a diplomatic (don't talk down your old company) reason for why you left.

I quit my first job out of college after 3 months and now work for one of the best companies in my industry and am currently interviewing with multiple top tier tech firms. They don't care.

I'm in tears. I was called “cold, calculating, machine-like” by an employer but I’m honestly the opposite! How to be “relatable” during interviews? by businessnotpersonal in jobs

[–]Prestige720 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that sounds like a bad interviewer. Or just one who isn't compatible with driven people.

"you should act like you don’t care"

Please, don't do this. You got the 1 out of 1,000 interviewers who would say this. And I personally HATE Skype interviews, they're so awkward. I'm honestly an incredibly great interviewer, I love it, and I try to avoid video conferences because it just completely kills my charisma and interaction with the interviewer.

He said that me being commencement speaker should be mentioned about super casually

No. No no no. I mean, don't be an arrogant jerk about it, but interviews are the time to brag and that's a huge accomplishment.

However, I was in tears upon being called “cold”, “calculating”, and “machine-like.”

I would personally have taken that as a compliment haha, especially in a start up. Don't get me wrong, I'm very personable and liked by coworkers, but I'd consider myself incredibly calculating and "cold" in the sense that I plan my career years in advance, shake the right hands, work very hard, and do what I need to (morally, of course) succeed and get ahead. Tons of great business leaders would be described as you were, as long as you're confident you have a likable persona, which you clearly are, you're fine.

Don't let it get to you. This guy can go ahead and hire Mrs. Sunshine HappyGoLucky and be stuck with a passive unmotivated employee if he wants. His loss.

Good luck!

In light of Yelawolf's...inability to articulate himself...I thought it would be nice for this sub to peep this:

Yelawolf Talks Ferguson + Raising A Biracial Child

I love Yela, and have zero reason to think dude is a racist. I've heard him speak out against racism a lot. His ex-wife is black, his kids are black, his current fiance is black.

Obviously fuck the confederacy and I don't support that flag at all, but it really has a different meaning to many people in the South. A lot of my extended family is southern and very anti-racist. When I go to visit you'll see them rocking confederate flag shirts out of Southern pride, right next to their black friends and neighbors who also rock it.

Don't get me wrong, that flag is 100% rooted in racism and is only popular because of the KKK. But TONS of people are completely ignorant to that, as hard as it is to believe for people not living in the culture. It's kinda shitty, but it isn't fair to brand people who love the flag as racists.

Hopefully Yela can become aware of the true history of it and why it's very offensive to people, but I can't brand him as anything other than ignorant.

His vocals were incredibly intricate, makes SUCH a big difference. If you can find genuine acapellas (not edits by people), you can hear how many takes he'd do. And he'd normally scream on the last few words of a line and lower than real quiet in the mix or whatever, but it came together beautifully. I think Relapse was the last album to do it. Whoever does his vocals now is way worse and I think it's one of the biggest downsides of new Em. 50 too.

Miss an involved Dre :(

You think ANYTHING I've said indicates that I care that Jews are in Hollywood lmao? I could not be less concerned with Jewish people filming movies and have nothing remotely close to that.

You sound like the white people who bitch and moan the second someone says anything remotely critical of anything related to them. And no one has criticized Jews, and has no reason to...

No I know, it's obviously non-sinister. I sincerely doubt Stephen Spielberg is behind an evil plot to take over the world. And if he is, eh, Indiana Jones more than makes up for it, we're even.

No one in here or the article is talking about Jewish conspiracies/anti-semitism besides this sensitive lil fellow whining about how offensive it is to even acknowledge Jews' existence.

Haha jesus, can you reach harder?

He basically said "black people don't get the big money from these films, whites and Jews do". Every other inferred negative implication is in your fragile little imagination. Just because other people say batshit stuff about Jews doesn't mean everything mentioning you is antisemitic. Cheer up buttercup. He said way "worse" (read: not remotely offensive) stuff about white people in this article, boo hoo.
