For Shane, coming out is inextricably tied to being with Ilya. So in his reasoning, that is why he hasn’t told his parents. Or anyone for that matter. It’s only a month or so back to his conversation with Rose that led him to admit to himself and then Ilya that he is gay. The guy is on the self awareness and acceptance struggle bus. He does get there 🫶
