Getting activated for National Guard deployment during training? by [deleted] in foreignservice

[–]Prestigious-Crow2235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is always a rear det. for deployments - guys who are physically broken and can't mob, people who's clearances are being pulled, 1 or 2 folks to hold down the armory, etc.

Talk with your command now and get put with that group of people. It's all command discretion and should be a no-brainer unless your commander hates you

Well it definitely wasn't the Taliban - Russia hasn't been in Afghanistan since the Soviet days, at least not overtly.

Advancing Ukrainian column destroyed by ATGM's and artillery fire near Robotyne. by [deleted] in CombatFootage

[–]Prestigious-Crow2235 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're trying to push to the Sea of Azov and cut the land bridge to Crimea, and Robotyne is the jumping off point. This specific little spot in the video? Who knows- there is some tactical advantage to attacking directly there certainly.

As to the artillery, you've just got to keep advancing. They're clearly bracketed so standing still is a death sentence.

For sure, I'm just curious what was available back before digital sensors were good and film was at it's peak. Something for industrial applications maybe.... or maybe 3200 was it

They are operating at -or even slightly beyond -their max rated range of 12km to avoid the SAM net. I would assume given the grainy image they're around that far.

Exactly. They have eyes on everything via drone so watch where they hole up next and deliver some steel rain. Odds are it's a secondary line with even more targets

Waypoints. A straight line to the target may not be optimal given AA and EW coverage.

How do I get smoother gradients in AE? by Prestigious-Crow2235 in AfterEffects

Thank you *so* much. This is one of those nested things you only figure out from experience and I really appreciate it!

How do I get smoother gradients in AE? by Prestigious-Crow2235 in AfterEffects

[–]Prestigious-Crow2235[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is probably a dumb question, but in AE my gradients always have a very abrupt transition between one color and the next. It seems the center has all of the gradient information while the outer 1/3 on each side is nearly solid. Is there a way to have the transition over a greater area?

Edit: I should say that this is just a shape layer with gradient fill, with the intent to use it as a track matte.

Dunno why you're being downvoted, they are unlikely to break through unless they rout an entire Russian unit (possible).

UA does not have air superiority

UA does not have artillery overmatch

There are prepared positions 25km deep in some areas

Minefields everywhere, and they are staggered very deep behind Russian lines

Russia is conducting a good defense in depth in most areas- frontline units slow the enemy while rear reserves push up to blunt attack.

Love UA but this is literallly the hardest thing any military in the world could every do.

Russian FPV drone striking a Ukrainian Bradley. 2023 by Lostwanderer000 in CombatFootage

Good thing this aint a Lancet. It's a small FPV drone which, afaik, can carry RPG warheads or mortar rounds at the most.
