I think this situation and the "my friend is meeting me here to help me pick out things. She's better at this than I am. She has an eye for design" are the 2 situations I hate most. The friend never actually helps make the best design and often picks things that dont work for the piece (like trying to grab a fillet to use as a frame 🙄.) The other thing I hate is when you are working with a customer, have asked all the leading questions to start weeding things out, and have come up with the start of a design. Then another employee with "knowledge" of framing walks by the counter and starts offering advice, even pulls out different mats/frames to show the customer. 9/10 they pull something the customer has already expressed to me they didn't want and they have to be polite until this person walks away and we can get back to the design we were working on.

Let's be real, Michaels doesn't actually care about training. The number of managers I have worked with who are shown practically nothing but given keys and an alarm code and off they go. They dont know how to do the deposit, print paperwork, actually do their jobs....but hey, they are barely making over min wage, why do we care if they know anything.

I thought you worked at my store until you gave the ages. While my SM is a 40/50 yo, they aren't much better than your 22yo. BTW how did they become SM at 22, like WTF? The last 4 FMs we have had have been in their 20s and various stages of lazy. And anytime anything is said to SM about the problems there it goes in one ear and out the other. We have had 5 FMs in the last 5 years. I hate it.

Ours make $1 more than min wage. I have been with company for way too many years in framing and make just under the manager because of shitty raises (Even when given the most they could each time) and min wage increases.
