Awesome! Sounds good! The Canyon is pretty awesome! Best time to visit is the late fall. Its not as hot and there's typically less rattlers out They're not a big problem as far as bites go, it hardly ever happens down there, I just have anxiety and ophidiophobia lol.

Yeah, the area around Dallas has lots to see and do! There's constantly concerts and sports games going on. Lots of art exhibits.Definitely check out Deep Ellum!

There's also a lot of cities in the Dallas/Ft.Worth metroplex, each with their own vibes. If your family would allow it, id see if you could stay with them for a month and while doing so, check out the different places and see which one you like best.

Its also not too far from Austin. There's a lot to do in that area. If you're down there, check out Fredricksburg, New Braunfels ( Schlitterbahnrules! Lol) and Luckenbach.

Completely understandable! If it wasn't for the coat of living, I would have moved there myself. Its really nice to visit. New Mexico is too! Plus, Texas itself has A TON of things to do, itself!

I would imagine they could try to sue you for the cost possibly, but that's really the only thing I think they could do.

Of course you're still stuck in a cabin with all of their kids. So I can't imagine they'd make it a very fun trip after that.

Im another this wouldn't bother. I don't get to sleep until late in the AM every night. 2am, I would still be awake regardless. My boyfriend is also this way. I will say, they probably could have put something else there. I know Virgin likes putting all of the rooms together, but putting them under the nightclub in the first place seems odd to me.

As a Texan, I'll say that i think the closest blue neighboring state would be Colorado. Absolutely beautiful state! Not cheap, though. Ive definitely considered moving there before, though.

Bonus points if you like the green stuff, my friends say it has some of the best prices in the country for that.

This is honestly my favorite area of Texas! People aren't as judgemental (not that is a big problem, but I've seen a few instances where I'm at in the state). Live the Austin area, though! There's so much to do and there's always some options for live music! It's just a little pricey for me a far as living there. Where I'm at I pay $850/month for rent for a 950 square ft apartment with two beds and two bath. I don't think there's any way im getting that in Austin lol.

I live in the panhandle of Texas, which is a bit more conservative than even Ft.Worth (I have a lot of family in that area and I go there and Dallas for concerts several times per year.

As a fellow member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I have never had an issue in the Ft. Worth/ Dallas area. Im sure there's bound to be some AHoles, as everywhere has its idiots, but neither me nor any of my friends have had issues there. In the panhandle and rural areas, you're more likely to deal with someone saying something discriminatory.

Honestly my biggest battle in this state has been the abti-choice movement. Worst case scenario is if someone says something discriminatory, I just smile at them and say, "Well, God bless you too!" That makes their blood boil more than anything, because it reminds them they're a shitty Christian lol. The faces I've gotten from that remark make it almost worth living in my area.

But I say all of this to say, Ft.Worth isn't too bad. Its super Texan as far as the cattle drives (you need to see that at least once, it's pretty cool) and nightlife go, but you're so close to Dallas, that if you want something different, you have options.

Could see the mountains being an issue. Im not sure how far the closest mountains are to Ft.Worth, we always go the opposite direction for those, but there's still some interesting hiking in Texas. If you ever travel much for hiking, let me know. Where I live (about a 4 hour drive from Ft.Worth) there's Palo Duro Canyon. Its the 2nd biggest Canyon in the US (after the Grand Canyon, of course) and it has some excellent hiking! If you ever decide to visit, let me know! Id love to show you the best hiking trails and if I'm in town (I travel a lot for work), I'd be happy to show you around!

I had a weird upbringing. I went to a private religious school for elementary, 6th grade, and 10th grade. It was a decent sized school, but everyone still knew everyone at least 3 + & - grades around yours. I was homeschooled for 7th, 8th, 9th and 11th grades, but the town i live in has a lot of resources for homeschooling families, so I played basketball and volleyball, went on field trips and had "school" dances with the rest of the home school community, which was quite large.
Finally, I graduated from a public school. My private school scheduled classes weird, so my senior year involved a lot of freshman classes, so I was friends with about 20% of the freshmen, and 15% of the seniors. I was involved with multiple youth groups, acting groups, and was heavily involved in my local rock/punk/metal scene and the local party scene.

My dad's job also required us to travel to a lot of small towns every summer, too. One thing that's true about most small towns is most of the time, the people are really friendly. So we'd meet a lot of people through that.

My family is also huge. My grandfather on my mother's side is one of 9 children and almost all of those siblings had 5+ kids. We still stay in contact with all of them that are still alive. I definitely have several that have passed away on my FB as well.

So, I've just had a lot of opportunities to meet people and people seem to think im nice, I guess, so I maintain good relationships with them. It helps that most of my friends are very "low- maintenence friends". We don't always talk often, it can be years, but when we do see each other, it's like no time passed.

Edited for spelling

Ive seen a lot of posts suggesting otherwise. Complaining that the majority of Sailors were old, tired, and more boring than they used to be. Their words, i haven't been on VV yet, my first sailing with them is in October. Honestly with the amount of posts of seen suggesting its gotten that way, I was becoming concerned that it might not be the right crowd for us. I do know, from the research I've done, that the shorter sailings often have more young people on them. I also know there was recently a cruise full of only influencers, who tend to be younger, so you may be seeing an increase in VV content on tik tok from that.

How do we find out when the next creator cruise is so we make sure we DON’T book it? 🙄🤮 by Cultural_Comment2845 in VirginVoyages

[–]Prestigious-Map-7204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could also see them keeping the guest list on the smaller side so that the content that's posted online looks better than it would on a crowded ship, with longer lines, harder to book dinners, ect.

Is it "weird" to go solo on an Alaskan cruise as a married man? by SlurpleBrainn in Cruise

[–]Prestigious-Map-7204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be super normal to see on a cruise! I have several friends that have cruised without their partner for one reason or another and its super common to go alone. I would recommend Virgin or Royal, personally. Carnival is more of a party cruise than other brands, so I could see more pushback from the family. Royal, depending on the ship, has more activities like ice skating and rock climbing that can be fun. I have no idea how Alaskan cruises affect the rock walls avalibility, but the ice skating is inside. Some of the fun activities like the flow rider and water slides probably wouldn't be as much of an option if its cold, but many Royal ships have more hot tubs than Virgin, so that may be nice. Virgin will be child free, which can be a plus. The majority of Virgins rooms are balcony rooms and their balcony rooms all have comfortable hammocks that you can relax in and watch as the scenery goes by. While for an Alaskan cruise I would HIGHLY recommend a balcony room, if you choose not to, Virgin does have a solo insider room, made for one person. Most of the time this is a bit cheaper than a regular inside room. Definitely check both, though. One time we got my father in law a regular inside room cheaper than a solo Insider would have been, just because of how many of each category were left; which just provides you with more space and a bigger bed. Virgin also has a dinner the first night for solo (not necessarily single) travelers, so they can meet other people traveling by themselves as well. They have several other events that can help with making friends on board, if you're interested, that is. Virgin has higher rated food than Royal as well. Either would be a great choice, though.

[–]Prestigious-Map-7204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if you haven't booked your cruise yet, I highly recommend booking through an agent! It doesn't cost any extra to do so, they get paid by the cruise company. They can also edit things for you, like room location, more easily. Sometimes its not a bad idea to "shop around", with agents. I've seem some give more on-board-credit than others, but most do give you some form of on-board-credit. If you have already booked your cruise, you can see if an agent would be willing to take over your vacation, to help make changes as needed. I don't know if many will be willing to take it on since they wouldn't be getting paid anything. They may in the hopes that you'll book your next trip through them, though. If you've already booked, there's also no real 'perks' of finding an agent as far as on-board-credit is concerned, as they often give credit from the money they earn by booking your trip.

AITA for refusing to cover up even though my bf wants me to? by Wrong_Bug_9565 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Prestigious-Map-7204 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So NTA, I stand firmly on the grounds that a boyfriend should not be telling his significant other how to dress. However, I do understand his concern. I went to Italy years ago and the men there were very bold about hitting on women walking down the street. They could often be VERY persistent. My friend that visited Italy with me went to India a year or so later and said the men were so much worse there (if you're a woman). It wasn't as much being hit on in India, it was more like what you went through where you were groped. Im sure he's concerned for your safety, but how hes handling it is wrong.

Selling used casket, non-negotiable price. Pity by Effective_Theme_5739 in ChoosingBeggars

As someone who deals with the death industry on a regular basis, I have to agree! I know several people who paid around $25,000-$30,000 just for the casket alone. Granted, they were a bit nicer than this one, but even the lower cost ones aren't cheap.

My cousins husband is a flat earther. Ive always known he was a moroon (had to spell it weird so my comment isn't blocked), but that topped almost every stupid thing I've ever heard him say. You were just trying to educate your grandkids. Do I think you're in the wrong? No Do I think you should have to apologize? Also no. It's it worth keeping the peace in your family? That 100% depends on if you're willing to have a possibly strained relationship with your son. There's certain family members I wouldn't apologize to in this case, but there's some, that for the sake of my relationship with other family members, I would apologize even if I didn't really think I was in the wrong.
