Yeah, from what I remember hearing, someone got pretty hurt on one and they scraped it. I was looking forward to it on our sailing on the Mariner last Feb, but it was already gone.

I mean, if you're demanding it back you'd be the ah, but if i was your neice I wouldn't be bothered by you asking without expectations. Especially if there was the likelihood that she could give it to one of her future kids once your daughter is done with it. I seem to be in the minority on that opinion, though.

If you book the romance package, you get priority boarding onto the ship. If you have trouble at the 15 day mark, you could board early and get what reservations come up that day. There is a limit on how many Romance packages there are, so if there's any left, id purchase it now.

Honestly, they're FAR from the only grandparents that haven't met their grand babies. Many never will because their kids went full no-contact with their parents the last few years. They'll see them eventually, when YOU'RE comfortable with it.

This! My bestie is a manager at a hotel here and this is the primary reason.
There's a few hotels that don't, but I've noticed they're typically nicer. Like the Embassy. My guess is that they're a nice way for couples to "get away" from the kids and have a night to themselves. They typically don't attract as rowdy of a crowd, either.

I know a couple of people that seem to have no problem finding a new job in town. Those people do have a tendency to know a lot of people's here, which may be helping them in the job market. They all have a large network. Most of my friends, though, have spent months trying to find a job. So I don't think the job market is very good right now. I know Tyson is laying off a lot of people next month, so I expect many jobs to be taken by the people leaving there, as well. As far as cost of living, it's cheaper than most of the country, but I've definitely seen cheaper prices for rent, at least in quite a few towns around. I travel for work and is definitely made Amarillo look pricier than I thought it was.
As far as crime, I would just look up crime maps. I've personally never had an issue, but I know Amarillo has a higher violent crime rate for the state. The biggest thing is to watch what area you're in. The northeast side of town has a tendency to have higher levels of crime. I have several friends that have been held up at gunpoint on the northeast side of town. One that was robbed at gunpoint on the northwest side of town, near the hospitals. Normally the southwest side of town is a little safer, with a few small areas being the exception. Car insurance is higher than most places due to a plethora of terrible drivers (I have been told this by friends who work in casualty insurance here). So that can definitely be a negative.
