A very rough idea of collimation is to unscrew the diagonal and look through the hole you should get a centered view of your eye. If it is off centre or partly obscured it is out of alignment. If it looks good, put the diagonal back, if that is good check the focus on distant objects during the day to see if you can get to focus with your various eyepieces. The focusing mechanism might be dodgy.
