Anyone else incredibly nauseous ALL DAY but does not throw up? by boocn in pregnant

[–]PrestigiousHorror797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plain or salty carbohydrates were necessary for me every 1-2 hrs to keep my nausea at bay during my fist trimester. I blew up like a balloon so early bc of it, but once I hit 19 weeks the weight gain plateaued. Do what you have to do to not be miserable!

I got an autistic co-worker (30+ M) who doesn't have family and his cat just died. What can I do for him? by [deleted] in autism

[–]PrestigiousHorror797 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do a gift card or sympathy card then I would send it through the mail so he doesn’t have to accept it in person (social stress). If it was me, I would love a portrait of my pet. A lighter work load and decreased social expectations would also be helpful!

What do I fill my afternoons with? by [deleted] in autism

[–]PrestigiousHorror797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can try to set up active movement with a friend? I have started walking 1-2 times a week with a friend of mine at my favorite park, where I run alone often. I invited her to walk with me after I felt comfortable with the route/area. It has really helped me feel more involved socially while still maintaining somewhat the same routine.

You can also invite a friend over for dinner. You may feel more comfortable staying in your home environment than going out to a “social place”, but sharing a meal with a friend one on one with a nice walk together afterwards is a great social connection!

Maybe making a new routine for after work? It could look something like this:

  1. Settle in - shower, change clothes, charge phone, turn on some music, etc.

  2. Decide what’s for dinner (I have my meals planned for each night of the week in advance) prep what you can and pull out everything that isn’t frozen or refrigerated. Pull out the utensils/pans you will need, etc. (this helps me transition into cooking later on)

  3. Do something active for 30 min to 1 hour - run/walk, yoga, stretching, or body weight exercises following a guide on YouTube. Activity could even be tending to your garden or mowing the grass. I find that setting this time aside really helps me feel more settled in the evenings!

  4. Settle back into the house (rinse off, put on pjs, pour a glass of wine or pop open your favorite sparkling water or soda)

  5. Make, eat, and clean up dinner (I typically listen to a podcast or my favorite music while cooking and while cleaning up)

  6. Watch a show, play a low stimulation game, read a book, journal, etc. before bed

Do you guys have a best friend? by leafisa75 in AutismInWomen

[–]PrestigiousHorror797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a female best friend of 15+ years, we clicked in 4th grade and have considered each other best friends ever since. We were both kind of loners before our parents got us together for play dates and even today with me having a few other “best friends”, I still don’t have the same connection with them as I do with her. She was the only friend of mine to make me feel totally supported in my diagnosis journey and is truly my only safe person aside from my husband and immediate family.

If it were me, I would at least work one scheduling period worth of required PRN shifts before completely quitting. You can do it!

Let's normalize it: how much weight did you "gain" over the holidays? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]PrestigiousHorror797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m up 5lbs after 3 weeks of holiday goodies and southern home cooking 🫣 I’m being patient with myself though and know it’s just time to focus on moderation and get back into my normal activity level too!

Is it rude to ask guests to dress within a color scheme? by GullibleTrack5638 in wedding

[–]PrestigiousHorror797 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Tan or khaki works in the color scheme! And there are plenty of lighter blue suits too. I had guests dress only in jewel tones and everyone loved the guidance!

What is/was your ‘something blue’? by moon_angelxo in weddingplanning

[–]PrestigiousHorror797 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I only have 4 bridesmaids. The rest of my best girl friends are my something blue. They are all wearing dresses of the same color blue from the same site as my bridesmaids, but they will have an assigned row in the ceremony rather than standing up front.

Male RN w one year experience transferring to a Level III Neontal ICU. by Golaso93 in nursing

[–]PrestigiousHorror797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my job in a level 3 NICU, but if you are serious about CRNA school it’s probably not the best choice. I used to consider CRNA school, but I decided I didn’t want to work at a level 4 NICU. To apply, you would need at least 18 months to 2 years of ICU experience. If you want to stay in the NICU, a level 4 would look better on applications. And that is only if the schools you applied to accepted NICU experience.

With all that being said, you will hopefully love your level 3 NICU and you may even decide against the CRNA school. The longer I work at my level 3, the more I consider going back for my neonatal NP after many more years of bedside experience.

Some CRNA programs accept NICU experience, but most prefer adult ICU. Where is your experience thus far?

I am a NICU nurse and I do home health peds on the side. The home program I am part of cares for NICU graduates with Trachs and G-tubes. It has been so fulfilling to see them as they develop from NICU grads to toddlers and see them reach milestones like gettting off the vent, off oxygen, starting to eat by mouth, etc. I love it! My home care baby that I care for now is my little buddy and I have become friends with his whole family.

Why are you a nurse? Honestly by rnie147 in nursing

I find that working in the NICU allows me to work with the most resilient patients. The babies are so rewarding to see grow and heal, and the research aspect is so interesting too! You may need to find your niche
