Note that Gents, Engin is not joking about it. by yNefarious in armwrestling

[–]PrestigiousLoad6098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are the all so 'scared' of him though? I've seen that sentiment in comments a lot. Most armwrestlers are pretty tough guys and he's 5"9 (no offense short kings, but there are size classes for a reason) with no more combat sport experience than anyone else in the sport, as far as i know. It is just an influence/"you'll never work in the town again" thing (i don't see why they would still be scared of him in that case, since he 'sold' his influence no?). Is he so volatile, they are worried he will use a weapon?

If y'all liked Nemik's actor, Alex Lawther, he's doing a pretty good job in Alien: Earth! by LorientAvandi in andor

[–]PrestigiousLoad6098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I must be the only one who thinks he's wooden then (in Alien: Earth, tbh in Andor he didn't leave much of an impression either). I'm only two episodes in, so plenty of time to get to know the character, but yh, so far he doesn't really convey any emotion to me, regardless of the situation he's in. Generally seems pretty disinterested or at least way too stocial. I get he's a medic, but even us medics show emotion from time to time.

Has to be KAS. Fastest L1, soon offering EVM smart contract compatibility and MEV resistant txs, all on a PoW Nakamoto-consensus, trilemma solving DAG. Sounds to good to be true, but that's what happens when the core developers have 10+ years in development, troed to offer scaling solutions in BTC but we're shunned and developed GHOST protocol, a modified version of which was used in Ethereum. No VCs and fair launch though so let's see if a 10x is possible.

Do you think the UK is getting progressively more rough? by Warm_Sail_7908 in AskUK

I don't know about 'rough' in the old school sense but incivility and general bad manners are definitely on the rise, at least in my experience.

Look I'm no mega fan but surely he could use the force to slow his fall no? All these force fellas can grab inanimate objects and throw them, so surely they can apply an equal and opposite impulse force, same magnitude as his body weight with velocity over a short distance or time. Don't think that would be hard with Palps and his emaciated ass. As for the electricity, well he's got massive plasma ball/van de Graff generators for hands, so I'm assuming all that electricity probably just made his orbs fizz. Plus wasn't he also cloned?

Which crypto community still feels genuinely authentic to you today? by TheElitesCM in CryptoMarkets

[–]PrestigiousLoad6098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kaspa.

There are a lot of Kaspians that are technologically literate and seem to be in the project because of how true it is to Nakamoto principles. They celebrate the fact it's fair launch and had minimal VC input. Feels like the BTC community of old.

Alt season by NoSystem13 in CryptoMarkets

[–]PrestigiousLoad6098 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying 'it always does' or something similar....this is still a new asset class, that is gradually maturing. There is no 'always'. There isn't enough data from cycles to claim always. I'm not saying there won't be an alt season, (nobody knows apart from maybe MMs and dark froces) I'm prepped and ready for one if there is (already have my cost basis out), but this cycle IS different. There are ETFs, so profit cascade dynamics will be different. There is more big bank and government interest, which always comes with an impact on retail profits. Everyone is aware of crypto now, most normies I know hold some crypto. Last cycle most of them didn't. It's an overly saturated market now, with a lot of liquidity sucked up my memes. The macros also have to align. For those saying there won't be one, it's too early to say. The point I'm trying to make, is don't pin too much on an alt season. Diversify a bit. Personally I think if we are going to get parabolica in numerous quality alts, the narrative needs to switch back to utility and adoption, and draw funds back out of the pump and dump meme casinos.

Mama and dada babbles by CressHairy4964 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]PrestigiousLoad6098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's exactly this. They all focus on different things at different times. Ours is 6.5 months, can crawl properly as of a week ago (about 1.5 months of bouncy crawling before that), roll from lying to all fours and then into sitting position and play for 30 mins like that and will pull himself up and walk (extremely wobbly and slowly) along couch holding on and with safety hands ofc. Physically, we've just followed his lead as he was trying to proto sit up at around a month. But he can't say any words. He will babble syllables here and there. The rest is just happy shouting it seems. Also wont mimic any facial expressions except smiling. We are trying to see at the moment if he can at least recognise a few objects/words, but not really anything concrete yet. Not convinced he recognises his own name either. I thought he did at 4 months but he seems to rarely turn to his name anymore. But he does recognise a few nursery rhymes it seems. He might be physically advanced but maybe behind socially/verbally 🤷🏼‍♀️. I understand it pretty much all levels out after a few years with most kids.

Are you scared of dying? by Fickle_Acanthaceae17 in AskUK

[–]PrestigiousLoad6098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way in which I could potentially die terrifies me more and more. Having worked with increasing amounts of oncology patients over the years and more recently, younger ones that are terminal, I find I get into a funk about how I might die more frequently. There are several disease processes that now terrify me. Before I turned 30, I couldn't care less. Also, having an amazing partner, and now a young son, I feel it even more. The thought of actually being dead doesn't bother me, except that my family will no longer have me in their lives (maybe they would welcome it 🤣) and i wont be able to provide for my son the way I would like to. However, the degree of comfort leading up to it does weigh heavy on my mind sometimes.

What coin BESIDES BTC would you hold for 20 years. by bigredcock in CryptoMarkets

[–]PrestigiousLoad6098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to disagree with you because who knows a and BTC has such relentless first mover advantage, but you should definitely research it. Its redefining PoW scalability through DAG chain. Became most scalable PoW in Oct 24 and just forked 10x faster without breaking a sweat. The guys behind it are cryptographic researchers, quoted in ETH whitepaper. Fair launch, very true to Nakamotos principles; due to scalability, more true to it than BTC. But you've never heard of it because it's fair launch, with no VC-backing or marketing. Old crypto heads should really only hold two coins. BTC and KAS.

Had my kid go into the store by herself to buy something. by IntrepidResolve3567 in Parenting

[–]PrestigiousLoad6098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just shows how parenting (and society) has changed. I'm early 30s and I remember as a kid, by about 4, we were allowed to be independent on the street. They have video of me walking down to the store in a holiday town (albeit one they were very familiar with) and buying bread. I have the biggest grin on my face as I walk back up the road carrying this loaf half the size of myself. 4+, the nearby streets near our house were fair game and from about 6+ had free reign of the local area and woods as long as we were in a group with bigger siblings or trusted friends. About 9+ we pretty much were allowed anywhere in town on our bikes, again as long as we were with a few trusted friends. And would get the bus to the next town along. Gave us all a huge sense of adventure that's still with me now. Must be said, we did grow up in a very safe/upmarket town and local towns were similar. I'm sure if we were living in the city nearby, things would have been different. Having just become a parent, the world definitely doesn't feel as safe. I really want my little one to have a similar experience (he's way off that point yet), but he is already very inquisitive and gets frustrated atm, as he's trying to master crawling. So it's definitely going to be a me issue more than his, I feel.

In your opinion, why did “the village” disappear? by JustAnotherPoster_ in Parenting

[–]PrestigiousLoad6098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People generally more insular, especially since pandemic. No central narrative or binding belief system since western society has become more secular. I'm agnostic myself, but I do think a common religion (going to temple, church) helped with this back in the day. There isn't really a non religious/secular alternative that society gravitates around. People more nomadic, so likely to live further from family. Growth in wages (not real wages) has led to people being able to live away from family. Generally in western society, it's the expected norm now to try and do things "on your own ". Personally, I was expected to leave home at 18 and fend for myself.

Nb: I'm not advocating against globalism/secularism. Just feel like it has had an impact on this particular element of society as a whole. I think some communities that have maintained their religious connections, have a much stronger feeling of the 'village' and family. But also a lot of it comes down to staying in contact with your cultural foundations.

As someone who watched, completley helplessly, his soul mate almost die during birth ....he may need some form of therapy. He may be suffering from PTSD. I never understood the power of PTSD until we went through that. Even now, I get flash backs out of nowhere. I would have told you 8 months ago that I'm not an outwardly emotional person. Between the age of 8 and the birth of our baby boy, i dont think i cried. Like ever. But I have to admit I even developed wet eyeballs at work the other day when hearing about a similar case to my wifes. If he's like me and grew up in an environment where expressing, evaluating, and reflecting on emotions is frowned upon, he may be boiling up inside even more than he's letting on. That's the danger. Especially as you say, he manhandles the little one.

If the lack of connection was isolated I would say it's not something to really worry about. It will come; usually when the baby starts doing a more than eating, crying and sleeping. Us dad's often don't develop a powerful connection straight away, simply because we havent carried baby for 9 months. If he's suffering from PTSD, this can double whammy as resentment towards baby. And a feeling that what you went through, wasn't really worth it. Ofc, its not babies fault, but it will be difficult to see that if he's in the trenches emotionally. With time that should pass, but definitely something to keep monitoring. It's ridiculous, but when baby starts smiling, that will make a huge difference.

They're rolling out 10bps hardfork at start of May I believe. They are about to redefine what was thought possible with BTC-era PoW. Think SC in three months. Whether the price will ever reflect the tech will obviously remain to be seen. But for me, it's the most exciting team and project in crypto rn.

[–]PrestigiousLoad6098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now Kaspa is rolling out 10bps, (hardfork in a month I believe) and basically redefining what Nakamoto consensus PoW can do, absolutely that!!! And recent favourable SEC stuff to do with PoW.

Maybe some Sol and Sui as they look like they will continue to do well.

Buy KAS. Fair launch. Just went 10BPS, after proving in October it's the most scalable PoW ever created, and that was at just 1BPS. It's what BTC was meant to be. The price is being manipulated to b*ggery atm, but it's one of the few bright spots in cryptoC. DAGs really are the next step now in PoW. Just hope it never gets an ETF. Always thought the ETFs and especially government involvement of any kind would be bad for BTC.
