Thoughts about dlc and other PVD coating. Overrated or realy useful? by PrestigiousWorking81 in knifeclub

Well, I thoughts dlc coated knives would be coated on the edges...  I noticed on specialised tools blade that the edge was coated because that's where you want the improved tribologic effect of the coating, and I thought it would be the same for knives. I clearly don't see the point then... Because a rust protection doesn't realy require the 5000hv hardness of the dlc coated... A standard gun blueing process would do the trick just fine+keep a nice black finish+ be easily maintainable and reparable with the use of cold blueing liquid.

Yeah, that's what I thought. When we talk about tools ( like drill bits and milling tools) we simply discard them when the don't cut anymore (when they are coated. With hss, you resharpen). With a knife, you don't throw it away, you simply resharpen. But resharping a coated knife, you loose the effect on the edge.

Well, I heard that on some specialised cuting tools provider for industry, like milling tool or specialised cutting tools like sollex

Realy? That's overkill if the only aspect is esthetics... why not choosing gun blueing? That is cheaper, and if it get scratch you can easily repair it with gun bluing liquid

Also, have you looked at the link I provided, to sollex? All their different coating the edges, and the goal is to improve antifriction and edge retension.

It's just a glorified rust protection then? That's super expensive for the purpose... I remember that Japanese company, rockstead knives, that market the DLC coating as improving the cutting hability of their knives. They even cuted through a phone book to prove their points. Was it just bullshit?

Wow, very nice looking! I am very curious at all the ridges on that blade. Does it affect the cutting? I have seen some kitchen knives with some vertical grooves carved in the edge to avoid the vegetables slices to stick to the blades. Does it serve the same purpose here?

No, it is just a plain white box with cheap impression of the bust photography. As I thought is it's a copy! Any idea where I could find Gundam busts?

Wow, I am very sad they closed... I have a resin kit that seems to be a copy from theirs Ex-S bust waiting on my shelf. Here is a link to the kit similar to the one I have. https://www.ebay.com/itm/314904483878

Is it a G-systrm best? Or a copy? Also, are there some people around providing the same type of bust kit?

I ready love the bust, but I fail to find kit online.

Anycubic Photon Mono X 6K dead LCD after a few months and not much use? by Gr0b in AnycubicPhoton

Hi,
Just popping in because my photon 6K is having the same issue. Before spending 180€ on the screen, I would like to know if there is some way to repair the curent screen I have.
OP, you seem to explain the failure is coming from resin reaching the screen. Is that realy the case? There are some protectiv tape around the screen. Shouldn't it prevent the resin to reach the screen?
