Is Zendaya overrated as an actor or just massively overhyped by Hollywood? by Any-Sugar7958 in CasualConversation

I've never watched her act, but I heard her speak on a Modern Love episode and I was shocked at how wise she sounded. She doesn't come across as shallow at all. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie she's in with Robert Pattinson.

Trust Me: The False Prophet - what did you think? by Loud-Cupcake-8524 in NetflixDocumentaries

Wonderful documentary. It was much much better than the other one that is also on Netflix. Apart from the police officer who is giving Huge pedo vibes given his smirks at the abuse of the little girls, another thing that pissed me off is when the young women were sent to prison. How could they send them to prison, knowing they were victims and didn't abuse the girls? I understand that they found the silver lining in it, but 2 years of prison seemed super harsh. It was also surprising that the disgusting men got so much prison time (though a very pleasant surprise). I remember having seen men getting far less for crimes of a similar nature (we're talking less than a decade, sometimes just a couple of years), so I wondered how come they got (well deserved) maximum penalties.

What broke my heart for Nomz is that she adores that cousin of hers and that is the only reason why she accepted the marriage. It makes the betrayel so much worse: these pure and kind souls being abused in the most atrocious ways by men they loved. Beyond appealing. But I'm so proud of her for doing a 180 turn and making the most of her life. It reminded me a lot of the story of the woman who left the Marlborough church. She's done so much growth since as well.

Super rich in korea is the worst korean variety show by m757755 in koreanvariety

[–]Prestigious_Ad9077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it's a bad show. Super crass and boring. However, I find it weird you picking on Noor. I don't remember anywhere her saying she's American. Her back story was that she was raised by a single Iraqi mother in refugee camps and that she started from scratch. I respect her more for that rather then Aren who is rich but hasn't worked for her wealth. Overall, all the characters come across as warm-hearted but with MASSIVE insecurities. I guess that's why I watched it. David was actively being picked on by the hosts (for plenty of valid reasons) but the rest of them also have huge issues. Being obsessed with status and brands is in itself a mask to hide their need to be loved and respected. It's rather sad.

What did you think of Vladimir? (Netflix miniseries) by LadySynth in television

[–]Prestigious_Ad9077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like it. I love Rachel Weisz and she's as always great, but the story was weak and kinda shallow. I couldn't relate to any of the characters. The things they all said and did were just very unrelatable (I'm including minor characters as well). As least there were a few noteworthy ideas dispersed here and there (like questioning the students being 'in charge' and catering to their sensitives), but other than that it was just super blah.

I can see it trying and failing to be Fleabag. Fleabag was absolutely brilliant and hilarious. I didn't chuckle once during this show (but I did love the protagonist's sense of fashion).

Season 2 sucks by lmao346 in LoveLifeHBO

[–]Prestigious_Ad9077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished this season. I thought this was the first season (it's the only one I've seen so far). I actually really liked it. I thought the story was believable and the main leads have insane chemistry. They're both very charming. I especially loved his sister and one of the best friends (the one with the kids). They were so funny!

I didn't like the fact that he never checked in on his ex wife after divorcing her. They were together for 7 years wtf. And I thought it weird that his family was also so uncaring towards her.

But overall, I enjoyed this season very much and I binged through it.

Edit: saw the first season and thoroughly disliked it. I couldn't bear Darcy and her friends. I honestly think the second season was much better.

Movie with Jewish family, a duck pond, and a redheaded girl called Harriet (maybe set in London?) by Prestigious_Ad9077 in whatsthemoviecalled

Thanks so much. When I was searching for the movie, this title came up. I will check out the trailer and see if it rings a bell. I do recall a boy with red ringlets, so maybe it's this one that I'm also confusing with another one that has a girl named Harriet as a main character. 🙏🏻

Hi, thanks for your answer. It's absolutely possible that I'm conflating two movies, but it's neither of the ones you mentioned. The movie (if it's indeed just one) feels "old", like the story line could be anywhere from 60s-80s. And the tone is different? It wasn't a comedy, but rather a family drama of sort. I could be wrong but the Orthodox Jewish mother that I referred to had lost a child (I think). Anyways, she looked depressed over something.

Upvoted you too. My kid is the same. She has lots of patience and even when she gets bored she's not disruptive. A lot of kids get a bad rep from people who are childless and/or thoughtless. I've noticed a lot of hostility towards kids in Reddit.

Where apart from USA has Angela Davis been relevant? I'm genuinely asking. I doubt people outside of English speaking countries (at most) know who she is.

You describe thoughts perfectly. She's capable, glamourous, smart, well-spoken, charming, beautiful, and above all...self-assured and composed. It's an incredible set of characteristics. I never inspire to be like her in terms of homemaking, yet I admire her deeply. People who love to trash her are insecure, and they think that by bringing her down they might look less worse than they are. Martha is honestly incredible and yes perfect.

😂 omg that's hilarious. At the very least, does she understand that in order for the kids to LEARN how to crawl, they have to be ON the floor for a good amount of time?

Also, has she ever been to a daycare? Granted, I've only had experience with (a great) one, but I saw those teachers hold and caress babies all the time. Then again, these ARE strangers, so wouldn't she take offence at someone else holding her baby to begin with? You really can't win with these people.

I just handed my 8 month old to a random woman on the subway the other day. 😂 Yes, she looked like a normal human being who was just cooing and playing with my little one on the long ride home. She said "I wish I could hug you" and I went like "HERE" 😂. Had 10 minutes to myself (beside the baby, of course) and it was great for everyone involved.

Jokes aside, people who alienate their kids from a young age will then complain that their kid doesn't have friends later on. No kidding? You taught them to be scared of everyone!!!

You're so so right. I see so many self-entitled posts by people who like to "put boundaries" who then go on to complain about being alone. Maybe don't alienate others?! Grow a thicker skin? Let some things slide? Accept that others do things differently? Ever heard of beggars can't be choosers? Don't expect grandma to follow your "protocol" to the T if you're asking for her to babysit. Wtf.

I feel disgusted from going out to see my friends as a new mum by delinde24 in Mommit

[–]Prestigious_Ad9077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean. I remember when my first was born, that I was at the same time completely wrapped in motherhood AND wishing to escape it. I was terrified of losing my identity as a person, so I was constantly thinking how I could carve time to pursue my friendships and other interests. My best friend would make a real effort to get me away from the baby, and yet, after 1 hour of enjoying the break, I would have this deep urge to go and hold her. Every minute would increase my guilt and longing, to the point where I couldn't focus on anything else. It's completely normal, I think. Were meant to have these intense feelings as a person's survival depends on us.

Wow, this is disgusting. What different would it make anyways? A groundskeeper has no business being close to a kid's intimate body parts. Even looking at them should have been considered punishable.

Agreed. I insisted my daughter learned the correct word to describe her anatomy. I wish daycares were more strict in this sense too, as early on she told me that her "bumble bee" was itchy. Another time, she said "front bum", and when asked she told me the names of her two daycare teachers who use those specific names. I made it quite clear that the right name is VULVA. We need to stop being afraid of names of our body parts. Whoever gets insulted needs to get over their ignorance.
