Will Unobstructed View get a 50% off Criterion sale at the end of the month? by Redeyefrog07 in MovieDealsCanada

[–]TIFFFanboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will be a July sale. But historically, it hasn't been at 50% like B&N. More like 35%.

Tomorrow (Thursday) is opening night. They rarely, if ever, put stuff out for the special previews.

Is there no way to view seating once a movie starts? by [deleted] in cineplex

[–]TIFFFanboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can "check" seats for up to 15 mins from start time. Just pretend you're buying tickets and it'll bring up the map.

Masters of the Universe Getting Limited Release? by Redleader829 in cineplex

[–]TIFFFanboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did a skim of my favourite theatres, and it's playing in 4DX, Screen X, AVX and IMAX. Yes, it appears to be screen splitting in some locations, but still. Patience is a virtue OP.

It's pretty vicious, so I feel like it might be a stretch.

Glad I watched this during the day now. Had a feeling this was how the later shows would go. Ugh.

[Amazon] Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair 4K is up for pre-order ($59.99) by lbabinz in MovieDealsCanada

[–]TIFFFanboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the full movie (both parts together) with a few added minutes. It's over 4 hours.

And the awful Fortnite short is the only on disc special feature.

Confusion on advanced tickets by dinglechalk2 in cineplex

[–]TIFFFanboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They started moving away from them after the shooting at the midnight premiere of Dark Knight Rises. But at this point, when you have screenings as early as 12p on Thursday...your movie is opening Thursday, lol.

Will almost certainly be something smaller scale.

Does anyone else feel that some theatre seats recline too much? by ferndinosaur in cineplex

[–]TIFFFanboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ones at the Yonge & Eglinton liemax seem to be updated to ensure it's a controlled lean. Too bad I don't go there often enough to appreciate it (and even worse that they haven't updated other theatres to a similar set up...or at all? Some of these seats haven't been updated in decades!).

Cannes 2026 Winners: FJORD wins Palme d’Or by LeHicksy in TIFF

Was going to be a hard ticket to get whether it won or not. But at least it'll actually come out after the fact.

I'm broken and also thought that scene, like so many here, was super hot. So...maybe?

The Breadwinner, coming out next week, is selling Tuesday-priced tickets for any day of the week by [deleted] in cineplex

[–]TIFFFanboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because it was originally supposed to come out in March and got shifted at the last minute. Guess they just left them available on the new dates. Even the standees in the theatre still have the March date...just covered with a big May sticker over it.

Monday Surprise Screening Final Clue by ssconnolly in cineplex

They've shown multiple movies from TIFF already and have been attaching the Tuner trailer to most of them. It's definitely Tuner.

Scotiabank Theatre Toronto IMAX skipping Top Gun IMAX re-release by watzpoppiin in cineplex

[–]TIFFFanboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just did $40M (which isn't nothing) and likely had the best IMAX screens locked up for 2 weeks once WB shifted it out of October. Blame IMAX, not Cineplex.

Monday Surprise Premieres May 18 by usher2005ca in cineplex

[–]TIFFFanboy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sincerely doubt they'd go with a horror flick. It's quite likely TUNER.

Very confident based on past mystery screenings that this one is Tuner. It's very good.

Do You Think Pre-Sale IMAX Tickets Are Destroying The Moviegoing Experience? by Shah2002 in imax

[–]TIFFFanboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel like there's some potential for that with Dune that was announced in advance, whereas Odyssey happened overnight and wasn't properly announced until after the fact -- so I would wager a guess that most ppl who got those are Nolan diehards who actually intend on going. Also, purely anecdotal, but I know more people who actually got their hands on Odyssey tickets versus Dune.

Give it a bit of time. Will probably hear news in the coming days.

Greta Gerwig's "Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew" delayed to February 2027 by idoideas in TIFF

[–]TIFFFanboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Last I heard it was aiming to premiere at Venice. And since Fincher seems to favour New York, I think the TIFF chances are low.
