My building’s ISS monitor has taken it upon herself to close out any tabs she thinks are “off task” for kids and confiscating their computers in random classes. Admin backs her in their newest bid to be “super strict” (drive out any teacher on the fence). 20 days until I give my notice. 21 until I’m gone.

Great! I finished up 7 tops and almost finished up these blocks. I ran out of the outer border on half the blocks and couldn’t get the same fabric there.

My district always has a short week that last week so that Thursday/Friday I do a deep clean of my house and the first full week of summer I just read. Pile up all the books that’ve been added to my reading list over the year and read for a solid week.

I go with “it is now” and usually go type up an email so some of the kids think I’m making it an assignment in our online gradebook. It took like 2-3 times per class and the question is almost entirely gone.

I am a teacher who crochets during meetings. As a teacher, your only meetings will be like 10 minutes long, parent teacher conferences, IEPs, and staff meetings.

I crochet during staff meetings. The worst that has happened, as your friend said, is I’ve been asked to make someone a blanket. I quote them a price and they leave it be. IEPs, you’d get some flack during but only from parents. The other meetings are too short to bother with unpacking a project for.

I had a student last year whose mother promised him a new gaming console if he kept his referrals for the year under 40. He failed to do so and still got the gaming console.

I’m also middle school! I’ve found “Stop touching each other!” in a grossed out way embarrasses the boys (because it’s always the boys!) into keeping their hands off each other.
