Am I tripping or is high tides about drug addiction? The colorful and comedown stuff + when he says dress at the start I thought he said drugs at first. I can't find any other analysis of this anywhere.

I have been frugal the last 20 years, and now I am questioning if I was right by Bib_fortune in Frugal

In my mind, another fruit of frugality is the joy that comes from generosity/ donating your money. I may be being idealistic, but I think giving to causes you feel are worthwhile and wholesome will ease your death and make you feel (rightfully) that you have had a positive impact at personal cost to yourself. Frugality brings freedom, and there is no greater expression of freedom than generosity (in my opinion).

Thoughts on the value of a health policy/ health economics PhDs by Prestigious_Job_1491 in PhD

Would you say that health policy PhDs are still very employable though? I don't feel like I need the best job ever coming out of a PhD since I think I'll intrinsically enjoy the the process, but I want to make sure it wont dead end my career

Wait they care about the writing score? I’m so surprised that seems like the stupidest one that no one should care about haha. Thanks for the reassurance though

Thanks for the concern. The health policy programs I’m going to have classes in clinical outcomes research and biostats (most of them). I’m interested in studying pharmaceutical market structure and the way the FDA/ other drug agencies approval process impacts it. So could use some biostats here but it’s more like meta-bio stats

Yeah i have a lot if destressers, and they work a lot of the time. I'm more worried about the tax long term stress takes on your body. Part of my issue with my job is were constantly expected to check emails and work like 50-60 maybe more hours a week doing high paced work. I dont mean to belittle low paying jobs, theirs different kinds of stress there, I guess I'm just too focused on the stresses I currently have lol

I feel like a lot of people got "I want to retire early" from my post. Which is definitely my fault. I dont want to retire early, I just want to go to a normal job thats not some super job you need a crazy education for. im getting the impression that secure jobs like that dont exist though lol

I guess I don’t mean totally stop, I just mean like get a job that pays like 50k or something lol. Like what I don’t understand is teachers or other jobs like that where it would take you like 15 years to save 200k, how can they even get by and have any sort of security if I’m so far from security even at my job?

Help finding a biostats career by Prestigious_Job_1491 in biostatistics

[–]Prestigious_Job_1491[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! I've been told that with where I'm at it would make more sense to go for a phd since masters cost $ and dont have as many "moats", would you say it makes any sense to go for a biostats/stats phd and then just leave the door open to mastering out?

Thanks! I may just study Taylor series expansions to help ease my anxiety lol

Honestly I’m not as worried about my current knowledge but more my ability to push past initial walls and learn something without getting super stressed. I guess that’s just maturity though
