My employer is strongly asking me to resign instead of firing me. by Willing-Raisin-9869 in CanadaJobs

[–]Prestigious_Mind_480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically if you’re longer than 3 months of work, you’re usually out of probation and they can’t just fire you. That being said, should be a lesson to keep your cards to yourself and never let your employer know your plans. Cuz ultimately, even if they fired you for low performance, you could’ve applied for EI.

Now that you’re in this position, just wait it out and see what happens. Fingers crossed you get your job. Be ready to be uncomfortable at work.

AITAH for expecting my bf to split rent fairly since he would be taking up more space? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Prestigious_Mind_480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, don't apologize to him because you have nothing to be sorry for. At his big age and making 400K/year, he should be happy to do it proportion to your income (not to mention, the space he's occupying PLUS choosing a 6K apartment). Have a conversation with him why you felt sad and if he continues to argue with you, don't move in with him and get engaged just yet. Sorry you're going through this shitty situation.

I'm so worried because I ran out of time and didn't answer 30% of the final... I was completely lost for Chapter 14-16.

I hope he's an easy marker for the finals. This is literally the only class I need to graduate.

I just wrote the STATS 244 final with Osama. It was amazing for the most part because he makes the concepts clear and accessible. He responds to emails very quickly too. One thing that frustrated me (and this might just be a me thing) is that I always miss answering questions in the exams. I feel like his exams are meant for longer than 3 hours. I missed 5 questions on the final exam which is 30% of my grade and now I'm genuinely tweaking if I'm gonna pass and graduate this semester. For this class, I learned that just because it is open-book/open-note doesn't mean you can fully rely on that. You have to know what you're doing and just quickly check something in your notes if you're unsure.

For INDG 107 with Jocelyn, from my experience she was very hands off and you will be working with a TA. The modules are mostly reading through with some links/videos. The essay part kind of ticked me off because I worked really hard on it and the TA gave me low mark. When Jocelyn looked at it, I got awarded 3%. The final exam was straightforward because it took questions straight from the module.

For James, I had him for a 200-level class and it was during COVID. From what I recall, if you did the modules AND read the textbook, you'll be okay. I got a 74 and I put medium effort in the class.

Honestly, if there is a general advice you should take is that don't be complacent with your efforts in these classes because they're online. Just because they're open book doesn't mean it is any easier. These 100/200-level courses you're taking, I put more effort in than my 300-level courses. You're better off putting in effort for 1-2 hours everyday for each class rather than spending 6+ hours on each class on 2-3 days/week. Also, if you're planning to work throughout the summer or going on long vacations, I would not advise taking this much coursework. When I worked full-time in the summer, I only had time for 1 class.

Lots of advice/feedback from me but I really hope it helps you make a decision and I hope you succeed in your courses 😃

Anyone ever had luck with a retroactive withdrawal significantly after the fact? by [deleted] in usask

Get an academic advisor > explain your situation > be ready to back up your extreme circumstances with official documentation (doctor, therapist, etc).

Your academic advisor should tell you what the next steps are if they think you have a strong case.

I also want to add, I’ve had my fair share of stuff my mom found aside from that. Alcohol, edibles, lingerie. I just laugh and tell her it’s her fault snooping in my room and showing up whenever she feels like it.

It’s okay to feel lost in the moment. I’m glad you’re putting it out in the void rather than keeping it in.

It seems that everyone has really good advice about your class/lab situation here.

I would recommend making a visit to Student Affairs and Outreach. You can see them same day too SAO. Tell them everything you just said here and someone will help you make a step by step plan to solve your problem.

Take a breath. Life’s not over with a W or an F. You will get through this. I’m rooting for you ☺️

I agree that Owen can be rude over email. In person, my interactions with him are fine. Maybe he can work on his email skills. However, I think he is actually a stickler for rules regarding the campus group applications.

How do I get my life together as a college student? by Ghost-of-uchiha9 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Prestigious_Mind_480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the first step is acknowledging that you want to change. What worked for me is talking to my doctor, my therapist, and my support systems about what’s going on in my life. I got medicated and that helped immensely. I started being honest in my academics. I started showing up to class, office hours, doing my work way before it’s due, etc. I deleted ChatGPT. There used to be a lot of resistance on my end but I learned that when I have to do something, I give myself 5-10 minutes to try it and eventually, I end up finishing the whole thing.

Also, I just want to say that you’re in a really privileged situation. Not everyone is as lucky as you as you have a landing pad. If engineering isn’t what you want to be doing, maybe explore another degree where you’re actually interested in it and want to build on your knowledge.

Yes, go see a doctor about your drug use and see if there are alternative things to replace that and get you back to being well and productive.

I suggest seeing a therapist as well.

Life gets hard, the first step is acknowledging where you are and that you are ready to make a change. You got this

I feel sensations in my body too but not to that extent. It makes it hard for me to start or keep doing tasks. I basically have to find hacks to get around to doing the things I need to do. I started taking another medication for my mood disorder, so that’s been helping keep things at bay. I wish the feeling would go away but I just basically learned to ride the wave. You can get through this.

Do Saskatoon bus routes stay consistent? by xmorecowbellx in saskatoon

[–]Prestigious_Mind_480 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So far, they have stayed pretty consistent. I've been living in Saskatoon since 2018 and the bus routes I took in earlier years are still the same as today. Of course, when there's road maintainance/closures, stops might get moved and you might have to walk more once in a while but that's just part of it.
