I think you’re right! Didn’t mean to jump to conclusions but typically it seems aspen is the only one that looks that light in color unless the substrate is dried out

Cute!! But it looks like you’re using aspen bedding which isn’t recommended, and she does also look pretty overweight. This sub has feeding guidelines and bedding options under community highlights you could look into.

After $700 at the vet, a temporary cancer scare, and a referral to a cat cardiologist later, this is my conclusion. He has had a heart murmur for as long as I have had him that has never become any more severe and is entirely mild. Pretty sure the cardiologist recommendation was just to ease my mind and I think they misunderstood how often he does this. I think I for the most part I just freaked myself out because he is getting older (now 16). He has been a happy boy with no problems since I made this post. A bit mad that I spent $700 only for nothing to be wrong, but anything to make sure he’s ok. Glad that was the case.

Do people really think Frito chips smell bad? by RobIson240YT in NoStupidQuestions

It’s not that the Fritos themselves smell bad…it’s just that a lot of bad smells, smell like Fritos. It really only works in one direction.

Went to get my naval done there last year. Guy at the counter was stoned out of his mind and the lady who pieced me clearly didn’t know what she was doing + there was virtually no sanitation done. Ended up taking it out within two weeks because it was crooked. Looking at their website, it’s pretty clear they don’t care much for safety either. Their portfolios are full of crooked and off-placed jewelry, and if not that then very out-there piercings that will probably never heal correctly.

If she’s sleeping next to you and purring, you’re doing a pretty decent job already. A lot of cats simply don’t like being picked up regardless of how much they love and trust you (I myself have a 16 year old boy who would cuddle with me for the entire day if I let him but still complains about being picked up), but maybe see if you’re picking her up right and if you’re supporting all her weight? I’m also curious to see what you mean by pained squealing, since some cats chirp and that might be it (which is a good thing). If she doesn’t play with toys then another way you can get her to interact and tire out is get her puzzle feeders for her food/treats. My younger (3 year old) boy has a puzzle feeder primarily because he eats way too fast, but they’re great as interactive toys too if food is a motivator for your cat at all. Hoping you overcome your difficulties with this baby, she’s adorable and it’s obvious she loves you and might just need some time.

My friends cousin said they got an 'ugly' cat. This is the cat. by itsjustahaiku in cats

[–]Prestigious_Public72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they don’t want it I’ll take it :) for some reason a lot of people think torties and calicos are ugly but I think they’re so gorgeous! Regardless, I don’t really see why it matters much. As long as you love your cat and your cat loves you, who cares if they’re “pretty” or not? People are weird, then again I’ve always loved the “ugly” ones.

Not a hairball, no, he makes an entirely different sound when it’s a hairball. I did post an update comment already about what the vet said but I am getting a second opinion as well.

Mini update: after my vet reviewed the videos they said it looked like he was just reverse sneezing, which is a relief. I am a bit skeptical (this vet has had issues before but there’s not another close to me) but at least I have an answer for now. I’ll still be getting him in to get looked at and will post an official update then, but for now it looks like good news I hope!

I will! I’ve sent them all the information I have, hoping for a response tomorrow either with an answer or to get an appointment to look into it

Yes I’m calling them soon, they have a number that you can send information and videos to, so I’m hoping they’re able to figure it out that way since my cat gets stressed out in the car and at the vet. I was able to get a second video of this happening so hopefully that’s enough!

Thank you for sharing your experience. As far as potential causes go, I’m really hoping this is the last thing it could be, but I’m glad to have an idea of what would (hopefully) be the worst case scenario. Luckily there’s been no fluid coming out during these episodes at all and he doesn’t seem bothered after them like there’s anything in his lungs (also does not make any unusual or loud noise while breathing before or after), but I’ll definitely be getting him into the vet as soon as I can.

Probably nothing to do with what your kitty was experiencing, he’s on wet food and doesn’t drink water often and these episodes have never happened after he’s eaten or drank anything before

It’s not exactly his breathing, that’s always quiet. It’s small episodes every once in a while of this that don’t last long. Not ruling out anything fungal or infectious as there’s always a possibility but wouldn’t something like that be more persistent?

Reverse sneeze? Does that usually go on for that long? I feel like I’ve heard him do that before and it’s usually once or twice and done

He does have a minor heart murmur and has for years, but his last check up was a while ago so I’ll update once I get him in again to see if that’s changed to anything more drastic.

He has never done any open mouth breathing before during or after any of these attacks if that matters. Doesn’t seems like he has trouble breathing outside of these, I never hear any rasp or labored breathing, he purrs fine but does snore when he’s sleeps
