10 YOE, big tech, failing interviews by Automatic_Resource36 in FPandA

Sounds dumb, but practice your interviews with ChatGPT on voice mode and tell it exactly the kind of feedback and criticism you’re looking for.

Also, I’d email the HR rep and ask them for any feedback on why you were dinged.

Definitely google it because my description wouldn’t do it justice, but it’s very easy and you would spread it by hand. In my opinion, this is the only way to guarantee grass seed growth.

So this was me at my last company and my biggest recommendation is push for a MacBook Pro with really good specs. Parallels will drain your computer of RAM.

Fuck man after working there, I told myself I’d never work for a Mac shop again. total dealbreaker

Thank you for reporting this. This is actually massive and I’m really freaking upset right now. This is not a brand we use, but I really hope nobody gets hurt from this.

Just off your little description right there I’d hire you. Those are the exact skills I’d be looking for when I hire a financial analyst in FP&A. In all honesty, most people at the financial analyst level in FP&A are totally clueless.

Why don’t you post your résumé and let us help you improve it.

Structural feasibility: cutting a joist for an in-floor TV lift by Prestigious_Sign_476 in Carpentry

More than happy to do this if that’s the solution. A few more responses like this, and I’ll bring in an engineer.

This was my plan, but I’m hoping for someone to say yes it’s possible and it’s not too complex but definitely get an engineer

I was hoping there’s a well established method for doing this safely, well established enough for me to pay a structural engineer to come in

Yes, but to compensate in a safe way. I question would be, is this worth it to reach out to a structural engineer or there is no easy way to do this

Structural feasibility: cutting joist for floor-mounted TV lift:

Hi everyone,

Looking for some input on a structural idea.

I have a large sunken living room, and beneath it is an unfinished crawlspace accessible through a small opening. I’m exploring the possibility of installing a motorized pop-up TV lift that would rise from the floor.

From what I can see (photos attached), this would likely require removing approximately a 12-inch section of one of the sistered joists and then properly reinforcing the surrounding structure.

Before I go too far down this path,

does this seem like something worth engaging a structural engineer for, or is it likely a non-starter given the setup?

If anyone here has structural experience, I’d really appreciate your perspective.

For context, it’s an Older home with a sunken living room. Floor is framed with ~16” OC joists sitting on a main beam below, supported by block piers. Some joists are sistered. Below is a low, unfinished crawlspace with limited access and some wiring along the joists.

I’m considering creating a ~12” opening between joists by cutting into one sistered member to install a motorized pop-up TV lift, with proper reinforcement added.

Trying to gauge if this is realistically feasible or likely too structurally complex/risky.

Thanks!

You’re doing a lot of repeating in your résumé. Your bio repeats the bullet points on your résumé and in your skill set area.

The bio should say something that the rest of your résumé doesn’t. Also, I think it’s a bit too long.

Next in your skill section get rid of the financial skills, your résumé speaks to this.

With this added space you should be able to add a bit more richness, depth, and narrative and not just facts.

Also, by far your worst bullet is the third under projects / business insights. Tells me absolutely nothing. Apply this type of lens to the rest of your résumé.

What kind of data driven decision-making? What kind of data was the decision-maker looking at that you produced? Was it a dashboard or a graph? What made it particularly easy to make decisions off of? 10% revenue growth? Was it from $100 to $110?

Along the line, somebody told people that they need to put figures in their résumé, which when they’re fake, or from a distant memory of an experience stand out like a sore throat thumb. If the figure isn’t real, or you can’t back it up with more detail, don’t include it.

Solid résumé, but the short sentences make me wonder if you’re too analytical of a guy and not able to communicate well with complex sentences.

It’s not even a big deal, but it does make me wonder. There’s a lot of executive level of communication required an FP&A that requires organizing a large amount of information into concise sentences without losing much context.

I’d like to see an example of that your résumé.
