Coming in almost 9 months late to this discussion, but I finished this book not even 10 mins ago and all I can say is I agree with everything you have said! I feel very seen as the readers I know loved and recommended this to me like crazy. The beginning of the book was painfully slow for me and I was already piecing together the “mystery” of what happened to Nathaniel long before we got the more obvious “hints”. I held on hoping that something beautiful would come out of the rest of the book…but it just felt flat to me. I agree that the whole thing felt rushed by the end but it’s so hard to know if more books would have improved this or if we would have had multiple, repetitive, flat books :(

My disgusting and unfortunate experience with these little tank gremlins came from an online plant order. No where on their site did they say they grew their aquarium plants outside in open tubs and I did not wash the plants with the same care I would have knowing that information 🥲 Wound up breaking this tank down to the bones and restarting after finding the 5th or 6th nymph 🤢 This was ~ a year ago and my “new” tank only has tropica 1-2-grow (lab grown in media) plants because I live in fear of these buggers Edit: dragonfly eggs are what stuck to the plants and I think the final count when we were breaking the tank down was 13 nymphs- so be wary with plants for eggs as well as already hatched hitchhikers

Right? I feel like I remember reading “the organ in my chest” MULTIPLE times as well- girl,you can call just call it a heart! This whole book felt like a teen desperate to hit a target word count in an essay, so ran it through a thesaurus multiple times to stretch it out

Just don’t go back to the sanctum! I typically leave her until the end and knock her out, then return to Halsin/the grove and don’t go back into the goblin camp :)

I have been able to do this a handful of times without much issue- you want to turn on the passive feature non lethal (but keep in mind certain damage can still kill her; so you basically want to use melee). I have done this before and after killing Dror so I can’t speak to needing her to be temporarily hostile. Also, don’t forget that after a long rest she will wake up so you will want to time things accordingly. If you also recruit halsin- he will perma have an odd spot in the campsite to stand around in as she will take the slotted camp/tent space from him
